Some of you may have alreadyseen this site. It's hasn't changed much layout wise, but I have gone from a CSS/HTML Table combination layout to a full CSS layout. If if could get some tests in various browsers on various platforms, that would be excellent. Thanks.

Also, other comments would be great as well.

DU: As the reviews are coming in over at the GN:

I might as well add mine here. The browser tests seem to be OK (although with some Mac issues I see). Its good to see the design migrate over to CSS-only.

Basically my only concern are those colours. I like the way the dark grey background emphasises the content area but that purple band across the top is too dark for the black text (esp. of the links top right). I'd be tempted to make the background a lighter colour and reduce padding and stuff until the text touched the top and bottom of the surrounding box.

Good stuff, clear layout nice simple design.

Just changing the purple to a lighter color made it look woosey (more woosey in some people's opinions). I will have to try more color combos. Question though, how will making the padding less help readability (geniune question)?

The only thing that *kind* of concerns me is what the site is. When I first saw it I though that it was a Movie Reviews site. Then later it seemed that it was a personal website with a blogger.

The first thing that poped out to me was the big title of "Amélie".

Then there were some things about "oral sex" and something about a "butt" quote. That's your business, I just thought it was kind of. . . strange for lack of a better term.

Later,

It is intended to be a personal site, and I just really liked that movie so I put it up top. As for the "butt" quote, that is just an inside joke, and it is too bad that is the first quote you saw. But if you look, everytime you load the page you get a new quote.

It seems to me that having a donation button is all the rage these days, but as I have nothing at my site worth parting with hard earned money, I thought participating in the Brunching Shuttlecock's oral sex donation system would be worth a few giggles (guess I am just immature that way).

However, as I plan to do more movie reviews on the site, it would be pretty neat if it was considered a movie review site by some.

DU: It won't help reability - it just might look cool (or not!!).

Perhpas changing the purple a tad darker and then changing the text color to white would fix the readability?

It's all about contrast. You have to decide whether you want a dark or light color for the top bar. My suggestion would be to either make it lighter or make it darker and go with white (or a light colored--perhaps just a lighter shade of the color?) text. Personally, I think white on a darker blue would look nice.

The low contrast in your title also means that it is one of the last things the eye is drawn to, and that's probably not what you want.

As for the content, that's your call. It is a blog, after all. Still, you might want to think of moving the review down and putting a simple introduction to you and your site at the top.

That's my 2 won.
