Topic: a page for a fotball-team....feedback. (Page 1 of 1)

Hey...Im doing a team page for a very, very good fotball team in sweden(not). They are a bounche of teenages that plays in like division 8. They wanted a dangerus but funny look on the page, cartoon like. So this is what I came up with http://ibg.dot.nu . The page it´s in swedish...only so you know.

give me some feedback on the gfx, it´s not so very much fore now but it´s coming more very soon...

Well....after climbing through the 'ruckus' I find the 'art' to be...childish. Could be done much better. As for the pop-ups...I hate pop-ups!!! Especially when it ain't necessary. Also, why do you need a splash page??!!?? That should go, IMHO. My first impression...start anew. I'll leave the rest for someone else, I've got to go rest my head...

TiN2K-D: Well I think some of the important points have been hit (splash screen and popup) but I think the cartoon look could work but it needs to be implemented better. Some other thoughts:

1. There is far too little room for the text. Don't be afraid to lay transparent layers over your graphics.

2. Kill the IE6 image bar.

3. The text box doesn't fit with the rest of the design.

What I'd aim for is using all of the screen, Make it fluid and throw some more elements in - its a hard balance between a 'cartoon-primitive' look and just childish so make it look like that is just how you planned it (work the navigation into the design too). Increase the space assigned to the text.

Its an interesting concept but needs to look more polished to carry things off.

Well I've never seen arms like that (save Gumby)...Does the middle finger represent something sporty in Sweden? (no offense Doc)Cus here it means f*** you. I think it is a complementary gesture in Morocco though. I'll let the codesters strangle you on your lines...If you ask me though, I think you were very lazy with the cartoons. If you do not want to take the time to make nice limbs (smudge tool?), then maybe draw the picture out and then scan it for more control! The cartoons really seem like they are in line with each other, but I think if you used the same concept and cleaned things up it would look a whole lot nicer...unless of course you are going for that sloppy look, then by all means...
