Win 98
*Bombs in NN4.7(Obviously)
*Mozilla: Fine
*Op.5: works but the links are blue which is quite funky with that black background

I like the idea and I think you did a pretty good job of using frames for this ( I hate frames). When the menu is closed, the little pipe things look "squished" and makes it look kind of funny. Does that make sense.

I get a "Page Not Found" on everyone of the links. Are there no pages?

yer no pages done yet, probably a bit early to request a review - sorry. the idea is a POC for the recruitment co I work for, after 2 years of moaning about the site (http://www.cerebra.co.uk) I deceided that I could do a better job myself - it is a very good and proffesional company, dont you think the site (re: cerebra) lets it down?

its no good if it does not work in NN though . ideas?

Yeah, I agree if it doesn't work in NN that is not good. My theory is, if it's a business site make it work in all major browsers (check out the FAQ on that)

You may want to consider using a different menu like the brothercake menu. It would mean doing a complete redesign but it would work in all major browsers and it would give you the ability to add all the sub-menus.

FatRod: Nice implementation of the sliding menu you were asking about some thoughts:

1. Do you have to use frames? You've done a nice job with them (as CPrompt has said) but if you can avoid using them then I'd recommend you did.

2. Your NS 4.x problem is interesting - what does it do in NS4.x? Apart from Brother Cake there are few that will work fully cross-browser:
http://faq.ozoneasylum.com/FaqWiki/shownode.php?id=188

I would expect something like that to degrade so that everything is displayed at once - if that doesn't happen then I don't think it is usable. How does the Doc's version degrade?

3. The top frame looks ugly - what are you planning for that?

Overall I like the implementation of that script but I don't feel you can avoid NS4.x in a business site. The old site is pretty basic and it looks like the direction you are heading in could work nicely - keep us informed of your progress.

+ why does everyone hate frames so much?, is there that much difference between frames or an iframe or docs zscrollbar. surely it saves relaoding menus and grafixs. It is a lot easer for me as the jobsearch function is CGI stuff (scary)

+ I prefer mine, I may use a direction script for NN and other browsers and use a compatible menu (?)

Yer can someone let me know exactly what happens in NN 4X (please)

I tried to match the colour with IE6 default colour so she looks like an *extension* will have a logo and login up there, working on it, still worried about that though !

i saw something similar (cant remember where) with the same edges as IE6 - looked killa.

I'll take a screen cap of it and post it. It really just does nothing at all.

FatRod: I'm not sure how you trying to mimic the the IE UI but it isn't working too well. There are numerous tips and tricks to getting it to work but at the moment it just looks like a plan grey box. The main trick is turning the body's border off so rather than inset into the page your page becomes part of the browsers chrome and its then that you can use the various other tricks.

My favourite resource for this kind of stuff is WebFX:
http://webfx.eae.net

e.g.:
http://webfx.eae.net/docs/environ.html

On the frames front - they aren't search engine friendly, they make bookmarking the page difficult, there are problems if people arrive on one of you pages without the frames wrapping around it, etc. However, I can see why you'd want to do it this way but couldn't you only use frames around the CGI pages or find another solution to that problem?
