Welcome to the Asylum puffyO1. Stick around and I am sure you will learn a lot.

On to the review:

I have never been a fan of "splash pages". I don't really see a need in them. You have Enter Site or Forum. How 'bout just enter right into the site?

The grey on the Flash part of the splash page is off from the other grey. If you are going to use it, might want to make sure the greys match up.

Do, you really have to use frames? It makes it hard to bookmark pages on the inside of your site. There again I have never been a big fan of frames. But that is just me.

The girl on the index2 page is quite lovley if you don't mind me saying

I am not sure if this is a personal page or not. If it is then its your call as to what you post. But, using explicits can sometime come across a little harsh if you are using it to get work.

Why would I want to get rid of it? I am working on obtaining it

It's not a bad page, you just use some things that I have never really like (i.e. Frames and splash pages)

Other than that, its not a bad page.

Later,

First off, what's with that splash page? That flash/image doesn't seem to have anything to do with your website and it takes ages to load.

You should declare DocTypes on your framed pages.

The content frame looks and renders completly diferently in all three major browsers, IE, Mozilla/Netscape 6/7 and Opera. The only site that get's it correct is IE. Yah might wanna fix that.

Please make your text links stand out. And make them a different colour from ~any~ other text in your document. Please.

CPrompt and Dracusis have already offered some good feedback, which I totally agree with, but I'll focus on things that haven't been said yet...

1) Navigation: disable the links to the page the visitor is currently on (ie, if you're on the main page, you shouldn't be able to click the main link). You could even have the text highlighted as an aid to let the visitor know where they currently are.

2) Site layout: the girl at the top is definitely easy on the eyes--no argument from me on that. However, I think she takes up too much of the page. On 1024x768 screen resolution, the top part takes up just a tad over half of the screen vertically. As a result, the bottom seems very cramped. I guess I just want more content space. This is more of a personal thing, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

3) About: I dunno... when I clicked on the about link I was really hoping to find out more about you, not your rigs. Maybe it's just me, but when I go to someone's personal page (this is a personal page, right?), I'm interested in seeing what makes them tick, not what they make tick. For example, how did you become fascinated with pretty Japanese girls (not that I blame you, of course)? Why did you create the site, and what does it mean to you? Maybe I'm just curious.

"The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time... and girls."

Heh. At least you're honest...

Oh, and one last thing:

quote:
hehe ill try to modify it to your likings

Please don't--modify it so that everyone can view it and navigate it with ease, but make it to your liking. That's what it's all about, after all.

[Edit: Er, I forgot to add: Welcome to the Asylum! Hope you enjoy your stay.]

I'm a busy, busy man, and I cannot be concerned with reading everything that everyone else said before I give my words of wisdom.

That being said, I'm a busy, busy man, and I cannot be concerned with finding which tiny bit of text to click to enter the site...but because your name is "puffy," which is one of my favourite words, I found the correct image.

And I clicked (aftger deciding that the image on the top right, while cool, was unnecessary, and made me angry)...

...and I am assaulted by a ginormous image (ginormous is a word created from the fusion of "giant," and "enormous," which is to say "really fucking big.") of a girl chewing on what appears to be a piece of licorice root. That's fine.

...except that in my 800x600 window I had open, I saw three lines of text. That made me really, really angry. Viewing the source, I found a frameset, which meant that unless I made my window bigger, I was only going to get three lines of text at a time. Scroll...scroll...scroll.

You can imagine my sorrow.

It wouldn't have been all bad, of course, except that web-standard-blue on mid-dark grey is...loud. Could we change that? Pretty please? Oh, God, for the love of all the pagan deities, I want a different link colour.

And while we're tossing around superfluous u's (read "colour," and "favourite."), I don't like the colour of the body font. Upon further examination, I don't even like the font. I suggest something smaller. God knows you're doing a poor job of cramming things into my smallish window, so lets give me a leg up, eh? Say, 10px Verdana? Arial is too...bouncy-curvy.

So there I am, reading the most recent post on your page, and you mention your "About," page. And I give a cursory glance, and I do not, immediately, see a link to the aforementioned page. That I have to actually search to find it (and then be assaulted by moving crap) is a bad sign. it should be self-evident, you know. I see the "Indulgence" at the right side at the first view (you picked good contrast that time), but I miss the options to the left.

I think that's a good few places for you to start with.

And, for the record, Betrayal at Krondor was a great game. Knock it again, and I kneecap you.

There's a lot to like about your site, and saying

quote:
I usually use Dreamweaver to code the base all of my webpages since it requires no skill whatsoever . . . in truth I really have no idea what I'm doing most of the time.

automatically gives you a lot of slack in my book. I think most of the inmates will agree. Everyone receives a spanking now and then around here (unless you're like me, and timidly avoid putting your sites up for review) -- but as long as your ego doesn't live up to your screen name, you'll do just fine.
