My coworker and I have been putting a good deal of time into developing this site, I am wondering if any of you have and thoughts or ideas about this little shell of a site? We are trying to keep it completely XHTML and CSS compliant as well as are working to make it ADA 508 compliant.

Looks good...

But (there is always a but ) only the top link ('welcome') on the menu bar has a rollover effect. The other items gets a rollover effect as soon as I visit the site/link, but it would be nice to have the effect(or at least some effect) there from the beginning.

On the front page the first thing that greets me is the adress etc to the student affairs. When I visit the page I would problably be more interested in some information first. So moving the 'Our Mission' part up to the top of the page wouldn't be a bad idea imo. That way the user will know what you are doing as soon as he gets to the site. If the user wants to contact you after knowing what you do he can then read the contact info...

The two bottom links on the page('Valid XHTML 1.0' and 'Valid CSS') are lying right on top of the bottom frame of the browser so you can barely see the underline. Add some padding to the place and it will look better.

Veneficuz: Thanks for input. I 100% agree with you about the padding on the bottom. It is something that just didn't cross my mind. Glad you came up with that one.

About the mouse over. Could you elaborate a little bit on that I don't really understand what you mean about the rollover effect. On the page we are set up to have a few different colors on the links.

1) A slight shade of gray on the current page
2) A rollover color when you mouse over the text area (a blue color).

If you are not seeing these mouse over effect would you mind telling me what browser and operating system you are using?

Thanks for the response.

I'm using winXP and Mozilla1.2.1, but the same happens when I am using Opera7.0.

The 'slight shade of gray' is working as it should. The current page has a gray background. But the blue background only comes when I hover over a page that I have visited. So before I visit 'Staff' section it has no rollover effect, but after I visit it it has the desired rollover effect. Hope you understand what I mean...

On the blue bar to the left and between 'Welcome' and 'Vice President's Page' there is a little one pixel white space. The same 1px white space occures every second entry from that point on (between Staff and Our Organization, between Education Offerings and Campus Community etc). If you don't understand what I mean, which you probably don't, you can look at this little screenshot (157.25 KB).

Interesting. I think maybe I will look at mozilla to see if I can remedy these issues. If you look at the current style sheet it might need to be condenced a bit, maybe I can work on that.

IE 5.5 and 5.0 have a similar issue but not quite the same.

I hope I can fix this, but alas I don't think the concern is going to be pushed. I don't want to perform any style sheet hacks to resolve these issues. I am really pushing for our code to be as pure as possible. I really want a lot of people to pick up on the CSS standards as written (the problem is probabally with the w3's really confusing proposal for css2 and the browser manufacturers inability to totally understand them) but I will see what I can do.

Thanks for the hard work and input you put into and gave to this site.
