http://www.pixelgates.com

Visually it looks OK, but a little messy in the way that different parts of the layout occupy different widths across the screen. The title doesn't line up with the navigation, which doesn't line up with the content area. It lacks structure because of this. It's also a little overpowering because of the amount of images used in the content area where plain text would have sufficed. On other pages where this is less so (e.g services) things looks a lot better. The content not lining up with the header could easily be fixed by moving the site updates section to it's own page.

Speaking of that header, is it really neccessary that you use Flash? It looks really ugly when it's loading, and doesn't really add anything to the site. Maybe I'm not the kind of person that is impressed by that sort of thing, but maybe others will be.

I don't think there is such a thing as a HTML 4.25 Doctype. You should fix, that, change it to HTML 4 Transitional.

It would probably help if you were a little more specific when asking for a review as wel...

I think it's more site pimp/spam that review request or am I just being cynical?

I did wonder why a majorish site would be asking... What have you got to say pixelgates?

Well, I'll play along anyways

As quisja has said, the HTML 4.25 doctyle is invalid. The latest version is 4.01. And also, the doctype should come before the <html> tag, not after.

Do people actually pay money for those silly template things?

I mean, if they know enough to actually build content into one, then wouldn't they know enough to make their own website anyways?

*shrug* mabe it does, but to me, the whole concept of selling downloadable website templates makes about as much sence as trying to sell bottled luke warm tap water.

I agree with what has been said before. Drop the flash header and get a working Doctype.

Another thing I noticed is that all the menu buttons doesn't have hover effects when I view it with Opera. Only 'template' and 'products' have the hover effect now, all buttons should have the effect. The menu should also have the feature that the page the user is currently is not a link and is displayed a little bit different. One reason for this is that the menu item isn't a link (since it doesn't lead anywhere)...

You should also add a contact form to the 'contacts' page. It will then be easier for the costumers to contact you since they won't have to open their mail program and most users expect to find a contact form on a page like that, so why dissapoint them

I also noticed on the pages where you have a lot of text that you use <br> as well as the <p> tag to create the linebreak between the paragraphs. You should only use the <p> tag and drop the <br> tag all together. There are also a couple of places where you've added a single <br> in the middle of a paragraph so it only creates a 'half paragraph', I've always felt that 'half paragraphs' look bad and are a mistake from the designer. So you should fix that...
