example page for a yoga client- going to go with flash and add some more animation inbetween pages . . .etc. Pink is the style of her identity . . . so pink it is.

Do I need to make the large descriptive word a color to stand out- or is it's large size enough by itself?

I think the first version being blue works the best. You might want to try the ipsum generator for your text next time, it provides a bit more realism for your fake content.

Your design other than your fading image could be done in simple HTML, which would provide a better user experience. Like the ability to copy and paste text, and back and forward navigation. I understand that you might want to do some animation between pages, but the user would suffer for it. Flash tends to be best used in conjunction with HTML. Remember there are people who can't use flash, even though a great number can. But making your content in HTML and your effects in flash you will provide a well rounded experience for all. Those who can take advantage of the use of flash do, those who can not do not suffer though getting no information at all.

I am a little troubled by the text on the pink, the pink itself works, but the content might want a different background color that is more readable.

Good luck,

I think I prefere the third option. Either that one or number one. If you add some more blue to the page, for example link color, I would opt for number one.

Agree with Dan about the use of Flash. You don't need it for the whole page. If you only use flash for the fading image, you might have some problems with the text on top of the image. Since you can't position divs on top of flash movies - at least I don't think so. But I don't thing moving the title to the right hand side of the image hurt that much...

Personally, not a bad overall design however the colors don't do much for me. You need a blue, light blue design in my opinion.

Good overall design. I'd rather go for something between the #1 and #2, and I would invert the colors in the small square below the crossfading pictures ( put the text in pink, and keep the background in white to make it in the continuity of the images above it )

The 2nd navigation, could have its inactive items in dark pink, and the hovered / active ones in black.

It's not the purpose of your post, and the images are probably temporary, but the JPG quality is a little low.

Do you know the meaning of gruik gruik symbol in the top right corner ? I've always wondered

Back again, in spicing up my flash (and utilize the program the way it should be used!) can you guys recommend what aspects I can addt? I know most of that depends on my imagination and my current flash skills- but I thought maybe you could give me some ideas and I can learn along the way . .

What cool basic stuff have you seen in flash movies that I could apply? Fading transitions from page to page . . . other stuff.

The best way to start learning how to animate with flash it to jump in and start playing around. However, what you currently have could possibly be served better with a little DHTML.

If you really want to go the flash route, you'll want to start breaking large sections of the site up into separate movie clip symbols. For starters, the menu shouldn't need to be loaded again for each section -- nor should the background. What your currently doing is using flash to mimic HTML, and that's completely the wrong way to approach web deigns in flash. If all you're changing in-between each page is the image in the top left and the content text then simply build those into separate movie clips and animate them in and out for the transitions.

Although, with such a simple site, which looks and feels like a lot of very basic HTML websites, you might be serving yourself better if you just do it with some simple HTML/DHTML.
