I've been working on a shopping system. In a product listing I want to have a little symbol before each item, and that the colour of the symbol should be changable through the admin system.

So what I did then was to make small tables, where I could change the backgrund colour to any colour I want.

The problem is that those tiny tables looks very weird in Opera.

Here is a page of what I am talking about: http://www.donaldj.com/tabletest.html

Anyone has any idea how to make them look ok in Opera too?

Also, would there be any problem with an approach like this? Like if I have a couple of dozen items in a list, and each of them has the little table in front of them. Cause I guess it will be quite a lot of tables... Is there any other approach that might work better? I did not want to use images, because then the colours could not be change to any you want.

heh, i didnt get it at first as to what the problem is..

my advice? just use images. it will save you in the long run (tables take a while to render, especially in netscape). if your image isnt antialiased, you wont have to worry about "halos" when you make it transparent.

ZOX, you should definitively use images. Those tables not only will slow down page rendereing, but will also increase page size (and you'll start noticing this, when there are a lot of items on the page).
