Had to Format C: the other day.... drastic but *required.*

To get back on-line installed netscape communicator 4.61 . Now I need to clear the drop down menu in the location bar after typing in various .com's.

As I recall the dropdown could only be cleared via a 'preferences' file
that I had to drill down thru the Netscape folder...well I've drilled down about 10 deep & cannot find it.

If I can't clear that... don't really need bookmarks now do I. ;-)

Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Mr. Max...

After your many suggestions... I've downloaded "Mozilla"... followed that link you provided... but I obviously don't understand something.

When Mozilla comes up it tells me it's Netscape6. What is it I don't understand? It's probably quite simple... but then again so am I. :-)

Thnx

Huh, I never found that on any of my menus (scratches head)

I always whack away at prefs.js. They're in there big and bad. And if there's someone you want to cause trouble for, just insert a few "special" sites while you're in there....

NoJive, two questions - what file did you download and do you have Shitscape 6 installed on the same computer (besides Mozilla)?

'la.... Well *hush* my mouth! (LOL)... There it was sho 'nuff... seems that I installed a newer version of NS than what I had before the big format... and in that 'older' version that 'clear location bar' wasn't there for sure... anyway
it's cleared now.. and I'm happy.

thanx

Mr. M.

The file was 'mozilla-win32-0_9-i....' Build ID 2001050515

No I do not have shitscape 6 installed.... and this time it's not telling me it's NS6...

but other than the 'mozilla' logo in the top right corner it sure looks like NS....

Whoooa.... wait a minute! When I started 'M' this time... it asked if I wanted to integrate the program with windows & I said No.... Perhaps I should have said yes?

There's something screwy.... it's not re-sizing properly.... what do you coders call it... "Liquid?" ... well it's not.

It looks like NS6, because NS6 is based on Mozilla.

Windows integration means that it will be associated with .html files (i.e. it will be the default browser). You can turn this off in program options.

As far as re-sizing is concerned I don't understand what you mean by that!?

Sorry for the delay Mr M.

Resizing... from minimum to maximum window... the 'page' doesn't resize correctly.

But anyway... I've decided not to use Mozilla because it causes *other* problems. Reading the release notes... the logitech mouse with 'snap to' functions enabled causes trouble & that's the mouse I use... the other problem
is right here in this 'post reply' window the 'cursor' is not visible... so I guess I'll just stick with what's working.

Is the page that you're viewing supposed to resize?

Mr.M

Well right here at the asylum for one... say if I drag in a corner of the browser the page resizes itself... correct?
Well in Mozilla it won't do that...plus the fact I can't see the cursor in this reply window.

While I have your ear... can you direct me to a file or information on how I can upload an image to the Asylum?
Warjournal told me to upload it to a 'server' then "USB" it... but I have no idea what that means. I did a search here but couldn't find anything specific. Any help would be appreciated.
thnx

As far as resizing is concerned it works fine for me (there's only one small problem with scrollbaras, but that's a problem with UBB, not Mozilla). Also, I can see cursor in reply window.

As far as your images are concerned, here're brief instructions. You need to have your own web space somewhere (i.e. Freedom2Surf) where you'll upload your images. Also, web host where you'll have your web space must support external linking or your images won't show up (Freedom2Surf is fine with this). And after you upload your images to your web space, you add them to your message like this:

(this will add image)
http://www.yourusername.f2s.com/somefolder/yourimage.jpg (this will only show link to image)

Clever trick, representing the square brackets as entities. That get's by UBB's parser even tough HTML isn't allowed? Only HTML <tags> aren't allowed, then?
