filter:alpha(opacity=50) should work, as seen on window 7 at http://development.runningwolf.com/code/hide_divs2.htm

And, theoretically, MozOpacity:50%; should also work in Moilla, though I never had success with that one.

I would just like to point out that alpha blending support in Mozilla has been seriously fucked since version 0.9.9 (this unfortunately includes the final 1.0 version, too)...
