OK I had a play with SVG a few months and I had a few problems getting it to display online (which I've now fixed) and now I look at it again I realise that another thing I wasn't happy with was my attempts at making it liquid as I hadn't got the right hand side navigation working except at my screen resolution but I'll work on fixing that when I can. As a way to kickstart the show and tell I suppose it'll do.

---

Anyway it was an attempt to actually create a webpage in SVG which would then be accessible to other devices. This is hampered by the lack of textwrapping in the current SVG spec but hopefully that is on its way soon (fingers crossed). I've used a few things like ECMAScript and I've also not used any raster graphics (everything is done in vectors).

All resources I refer to are in the GN SVG links section:
http://development.gurusnetwork.com/links/151/

I largely based the code on the following:

SVGSpider provided the basis for the main code.

SVGFont was used to convert Sumdumgoi and Chinese Whispers to a vector format.

ZVON's SVG sections provided a lot of help with code.

And it is here:

Anyway thoughts, ideas, etc?

So I've shown you mine - lets see yours

---------------------
I'll start a similar thread in the GN.

[edit: And to keep everything and joined up (which makes me happy) the GN thread is here:
http://development.gurusnetwork.com/discussion/thread/1717/

people can discuss and show and tell in either forum - whichever they feel comfortable with ]

Ok well I'm still just learning it, I'm actually trying to create a small editor that I can take the SVG code and store it in a database later (if at all possible)... But from what I see it seems really complex...(the javascript code not the SVG)

Maybe I should learn XML first... :-D

Maskkkk: Nice find but it seems like an awfully complex hack for something that will appear in SVG in the near future. I'll probably have a play with it and see what comes but as its just an example and I'm in no rush..............

Has anyone managed to get svg to work on linux? I downloaded the files from adobe and installed them as I was supposed to, but when I try to view a page with svg the browser exits. I'm using Mozilla1.1 and Phoenix 0.4 if that is any help...

Can you actually copy the text from an SVG document?

Yes, you can, just mark it as usual and copy it.
