Here's hoping someone is on that knows CSS. http://www.geocities.com/_xspyx_/classtest.html
I will be looking for a full review once I have the site like I want it, but not just yet. Right now I would like to know why the images that should be making up my text box are fitting together properly. I have all margins, borders, and padding set to 0px. At least I think I do.
Please help

SPyX: Nothing wrong with being eager Next time just drop a note in and a MS usually passes by and sorts it out (or someone will spot it and pass it on to one of us - you wouldn't believe the number of messages I get over ICQ which are just URLs ).

When you say:

Do you mean "aren't"?

Anyway:

1. Try removing the whitespace so:

<img />
<img />

becomes:

<img /><img />

2. I also suspect you'd need to define the height precidely or they would tend to get spaced out.

3. The technique you are using isn't very efficient and I would vertically tile the background image in that box.

Anyway if that were me I'd try fiddling with those thoughts.

Wow, good call man. Taking out the spaces did it perfect. I'm happy.

Not understand exactly what you mean when you say the method im using isn't efficient. Are you saying that it is possible to tile within a div?

Ok more problems here. The text box is now working. I want to put text on top of it. My "content" div however isn't restricting and placing the text like I want it to.

Look up the "background" properties. Background-image and background-repeat are what you want here.

The text in your content div is forming one giant line, because it is one giant line. There are no spaces in it! Instead of typing gibberish, I recommend going to www.lipsum.com and clicking "generate lorem ipsum." (The rest of the site explains why.)

Ok with the simple "add spaces you fscking tard" solution the text is now being restricted properly.

I still am not sure how to get the text box to be behind the text. You'll notice that the back ground image (the mulishaded blue strip) running down the center is using the repeating background property and that the text box itself is really a combination of three seperate images, the second of which can be tiled, albeit manually, to expand the size of the box. UGH! Success is so close here that I can taste it and I won't be going to sleep until it is achieved!

If I'm not coming across clearly I apologize. I've been starring at this screen for a long time now. Let me know and I'll make a photoshoped mock up of what I want.

[Edit #2: Some progress has been made by using tables. Still jerkin me around a bit tho. Why would putting a value in cell padding cause the cells themselves to split apart?]

Heh, I posted that and then continued to work on it for several more hours and finally went with the solution of just putting three tables together. Not the most graceful of solutions and I was unable to use CSS for the most part. But I guess I got the job done. Thanks for the help!

By the way -- do you know the origin of the leetspeak "fsck?" If not, you're banned from using it until you do. (Hint: think *nix.)

Erm, I guess I've never thought about it. Perhaps it is how one would pronounce F***? I dunno. . .

Well, of course it's used in place of the word "fuck." But it's also the Unix/Linux command for "filesystem check."

See? Now you're smarter.
