Hey I'm new on Flash and got a question for ya. I am doing this morph tutorial and I want it to kind pause on the second word(xtasy). I think it's going a little to fast at the end to where you can't see it.

I figured out how to slow down th frame speed but I want it to pause a ittle bit on the last frame. Thanks for your help.

(I just copied that frame and pasted it on the next block. That worked but does anyone have a better solution?)

From what it sounds like you're on the right track, just move that last frame you added out as far as you need to pause. It doesn't need to be a keyframe though as you're not changing anything.

Wow Fig that web site is bad ass. Did you make all of that in Flash? If so I plan on spending a lot of time w/ Flash from now on. I have had Flash for some time now but I really love PS so I never really messed w/ Flash until now.

Is there a lot of layer involved in making web sites in Flash? I seem to have problem w/ try to apply more than one effect to one layer. How big does the layers need to be so that it will fit perfect on a browser? I can't get the one I'm making to fit right+ this is my first time acually trying to make a page for the web.

Chad - to expand on Fig's reply - the sort of animation you are working at is based on frames. Once the movie's frame rate is established (in modify>movie), you can make any transition take more time by adding frames, and less time by removing frames. You only need a key frame at the beginning and end of a tween - you can add or remove regular frames in between.

Size is another matter. Once you have determined the size you want it to be (by hwatever means you reach that determination) you set that in the modify>movie window too. Set frame rate, background color and movie dimensions there.

Hey this is something I'm doing to test my new skills...nothing I plan on publishing so don't pay attention to design...unless you really feel the urge to comment. What I want to know is how to add a .wav file I found in my pc to the bouncing ball on here. There is a total of about 12 layers for the whole page. I created the ball with one layer. I want the noise to sound when the ball hit's bottom. Can someone help me? FYI: All this stuff is basically from tutorials from www.designsbymark.com , I'm just trying to learn some things in Flash. Oh yeah....How can I add slices or links to the interface?

I don't want to sound like an old grump, but people around here are much more willing to take time to help folk who appear to have exhausted the normal resources. Translated, that means if you have tried to look up the answer somewhere and are just stumped, then ask for help. How to determine an effectve screen size was a meaningful question, and you got a few good responses. How to attach a sound to a frame is in the software's documentation. Find it yourself.
Since you are publishing your flash movies as animated gif files (which you have to to show up here on the forum), I doubt you'll get the sound to play here anyway - it would have to be a swf for the sound.
Slicing for links - again, in the swf format you don't do slicing - you attach getURL actions to a button event, usually on(release). Again, that won't work when published as a gif. I'd suggest you leave off publishing your movies as gifs. Publish them as swf movies with html, upload that to your site and then give us a link instead of embedding them in your post. That way your movie retains all the benefits available to a flash movie, and we can just follow the link to see it.

Well the first place I looked was under the Flash help. I wouldn't be asking for help if I didn't need it, duh! The reason I posted the gif on here was to show people what I'm working with....kinda give them a feel for what i'm doing. If you don't feel like helping me out, then don't. It's not like I came here pleading for help...I've just found a lot of NICE people here w/ great knowledge. If you read what I wrote you would see that I'm asking how to import a sound to Flash so I can put it on a frame...the frame part I can figure out.

Where's Vp with that mop...

Ok..
Chad... a couple of things...

* Steve is making a valid point... you should probably listen.
* What you are looking for IS in the help section of the program.
* No offense to Designs By Mark... but you'd have better luck elsewhere.
------- www.gurusnetwork.com
------- www.flashkit.com
------- www.were-here.com
------- www.gizmographix.de/gizmospage/english/tutorials/flash.html
------- www.virtual-fx.net
- a couple of examples
* Import a sound - >File>Import (tough huh?)
* Actually swf files can be posted in this forum... The good Doc has enabled html here.

lmao Steve ^. Ok I will take everyone's advise...I just get so damn frustrated sometimes when things don't work. Plus I'm no computer junky...I'm sure everyone in this post lives on a puter and has taken some college classes for what you do...not me....I got a 8-5 job and a daugter that keep me very occupied, lol.

Well... ya hit the nail half on the head Chad....
I'm in the military... that keeps me from being on the computer 22 hours a day. Thankfully I don't work on the weekends.
Never taken a college class for this sort of thing. Self taught... along with A LOT of help from people around here. There's information billowing from these halls.... I'm serious. Ya just got to know who to listen to.... and when to listen.
The time to listen is always NOW.... I'm sure you know that being a parent. Carry over that mentality into this... and there's virtually nothing that can stop you.... and I mean that.
Refer to my little black and white sig above..... 'Stop and Think'... that's the key.

Steve - thanks man... I really appreciate the praise on the site. It's coming along day by day.... content soon to be in mass quantities on there ..... be sure to check it out in a week or two.

oooh, ouch. Steve is feeling kinda bad right now, becuase the links page hasn't been getting the grooming it needs. I'm sure lots of the links are still good, but link rot is tough to keep up with. Go ahead to the page, but don't be surprised if lots of them go nowhere.

Flash sites. There are so many that when I got really hooked on Flash (January of this year) I found sites so fast that I couldn't keep up with them. I'm planning a spin-0ff to my links page just for Flash, but that's maybe a summer project.

One of my all time favorites is http://www.were-here.com

Solid message board, good tutorials, interesting flas to download.... lots of 'em are still Flash 4 ActionScript and can be a real pain to dissect if you learned ActionScript with Flash5 like I did, but it's good exercise.

Look, only a day or two later and I'm back

Chad, the KAIROS site was done by myself and one of my partners in both Flash and Photoshop. You really need something besides just Flash to do a visually strong flash site (unless you're just an amazing vector artist, which I'm not). The KAIROS site has a lot of backgrounds that were done in PS and the rest was in Flash. My personal portfolio site is pretty much the same way, there's more PS in the KAIROS site tho.

We're Here is a great resource, I'm actually a moderator over there. I agree with Steve and Taxon, go thru those links and there's tons to learn.

Different people made were-here, but they use the same software - Ultimate Bulletin Board by InfoPop. Doc has customized his software massively, and I'd guess were-here has tweaked theirs too, so they look and behave somewhat different, but it's real comfortable to switch between them. Gurusnetwork is the other board I visit regularly and they use UBB too, so I feel at home no matter which board I'm on!
