Topic: Workspace/Output size in Flash 5 (Page 1 of 1)

This may be a stupid question, but I am new to flash. I did all the tutorials that come with it, and I checked a few over at Gurus, but I am having 2 problems so far.

1.) How do I make the canvas size bigger? It always gives me this standard size that I cannot seem to change.
2.) How do I make the movie that it creates "actual size"? It seems as if it enlarges everything by like 50%. It seems like when I play the movie, everything is BIGGER than what it looks like in the workspace that I am creating in flash. Is there any way to have them stay the same resolution when flash creates the movie? Thanks again...

To resize:
Modify -> movie -> write any pixel size you want for dimensions.

if it says 100% in the bottom left corner, then you are seeing it in actual size. The problem is the preview that you make. Then the movie will scale to whatever window size your flash player have.
To see the movie with the right size, then export the movie as an swf (ctrl+alt+shift+S), and then click on it in the explorere to open the flash player. You can also just press F12 to see it at the right size directly in your web browser.

I have the same problem when I test a movie I'm developing. I do one of two things: either
1) ignore the larger preview if I'm in a hurry to see if something worked, or

2) force the test movie to be 100%. There is a menu command to view at 100%, but I always use the keyboard short cut. On a Mac it's command + 1; I wuld have to guess that on a PC it's probably control + 1. Give it a try. Gets to be second nature after a while. (In case I wasnt clear, you do this after selecting the test movie command.)

BTW - besides setting canvas size, Modify Movie is also where you set your movie's background color and frame rate. Some day you might want something other than white for your background color!
