Acquired a copy of Premiere 6 and am using it today for the first time. - Seems pretty good. A few hours on and I am starting to get my head around it. Are there any sites that any of you guys reccommend in particular?

I am currently having problems with the transitions: They just seem to "cut" from one clip to the other and do not fade/zoom/disolve when I play it back! - The help files don't seem to answer this either!

Any ideas?

To make a transisition you must have two clips. Between them you put your transistoin effect.
The effect only show after you have export->movie.

...or you can render project (or a portion) first, then play via your breakout box to a tele.

Cheers guys, just figured it. Yeah needed to render or before the preview or something or the other.

One thing that dows baffel me though, you can ONLY use transitions in "Video 1" A and B, yet you can only put "nodes" and play with the opacity of clips in "Video 2, 3, 4", etc...

I take it you cannot combine and get the best of both?

Seems like a job for virtual clips (I think that's what Adobe calls them...)

A virtual clip works like this:

1) create some sequence of video. It can be as complicated as you like, as many audio or video tracks as you want, use any number of transistions, fades, stills, etc.

2) choose the 'Block Select Tool' (the one that looks like 2 intersecting rectangular 'selections' -- 2nd tool in the 2nd tool set)

3) use the Block Select Tool to select your entire sequence of video (and audio!) created in step 1.

4) click inside the selection and drag to another, open, part of the timeline.

5) That entire sequence now appears as 1 'virtual clip'...1 video track and 1 audio track...continue building more and more complicated fades and transitions.

Any edits you make to the original sequence will be reflected in the virtual clip.

That's the quick and dirty version. Hope that helps.

I don't have a clue what you're talking about.
Do you have any context?
