2 questions

Say i have different scenes in a flash show that i'm making... does the scene load when it gets to the scene or does it load the whole show at once... assuming I don't have a preloader.

Is there a script for volume control (I'm making a music player thing) and mute without stopping the song.

dunno about question 1 - not a big scenes user.
question 2 - lots of resources (including the manual if you can believe it - go figure).

Flash 5 or MX?

1. the scene is loaded i believe. its still evil either way

2. check out the sound tutorial at the juxt interactive site, also some good sound tutes on ultrashock.

emps: j-man's sound series is a great resource. unforunately (and fortunately) flash 5 introduced the ability to attach a sound and control it with actionscript, which is a FAR more flexible and powerful solution than the techniques available in flash 4 that j-man covers.

karn: the sound series there is really good, go thru that and it should cover everything you need. i also have a script i wrote to fade out a sound on(release) if you want to check it out.

i'd say we do, unforunately this is something i'm still figuring out myself. i would do a tute on the sound fader i did tho if folks are interested.

karn, have you done those tutes on ultrashock yet? that'll give you a good starting point, what i did won't make much sense unless you've got that part figured out. i'll post a zip file in just a minute here...

zip file is here, about 1.5 mb. just plays an audio clip and then fades when you click the button. should be pretty straightforward, any q's ask away...
