Topic: Flash image shifting issue (Page 1 of 1)

I have a simple flash animation with two imported images in it. One image remains static in the background, and the second image sits on top of it and fades from transparent to opaque.

In Internet Explorer, while the fading is *not* happening, a small vertical area of whichever image is visible gets shifted over by one pixel to the left. The problem goes away while the alpha tween is happening, but it comes back when the alpha tween finishes.

It works fine in other browsers.

Has anyone seen this before? What can I do about it?

That's a known issue with flash.

The simple solution (and most likely the only solution) is to tween the alpha from 0% to 99%. Even at 99% opacity it should look like it's at 100%.

I WOULD like to see the animation if it's convenient. I've heard aboutt his problem, but not seen it exactly myself.

Are you doing the fade in with ActionScript or with a frame tween? Does the image which gets covered up need to remain there? (I mean, is it later revealed or something?) If not, maybe you could remove that image with actionscript when the new image has completely faded in. That doesn't cure the Flash bug obviously, but it might take care of the symptoms.

Thanks, guys. The 1 through 99% transparency trick worked, as long as there was an image underneath the transparent one. I think it's sort of crappy that Flash incorrectly renders the images when there's no transparency to calculate, but I guess that's the way it goes...
