I've managed to do this with FiewWorks:

I'm curious: does any fo u know of any app that can make this text rotate around an object (I can't afford Max & similar)?
Tnx
Suggestions?

This all depends on how you want the text to look, and how detailed/animated you want the object in the middle to be.

You should be able to do this using image ready or fireworks with some masking trickery. All you need to do is place the "object" in a layer below everything else, and mask out the text that's meant to go "behind" the object. I'm sure some of the people in the sigs forum would be able to help you with this.

Flash is another possible solution, animated by hand or through a little bit of programming. But the results probably wouldn't be quite as convincing.

Additionally, you might be able to do this using POV Ray (A free 3D program). I've not used that program myself but many of the members here use it a lot and I'm fairly certain you can do animation with it. Although, you'll want to be comfy with the concepts of 3D and know a little about 3D math before you start playing around with that.

Alternatively, you could download a trial version of a 3D program and use that. Somehting like the ' Maya Personal Lerning Eddition' could definatly do what you need if you don't mind the watermark it puts over everything.
