please comment on my personal halloween desktop... here: http://www.radmedia.org/halloween0002.jpg

I didn't spend long on it as it was on a whim I decided to make one.
I think my christmas wallpaper will also include stars and stripes overlay on the wording, at least intil this War?! is over....
Appreciate it ...

Before I say anything, let me mention that I am by no means the master of 3D art, so this is merely a regular person's opinion.

The clouds could use a little work; they look like too solid of a purple at some points. I'm not sure what the red spheres are. The texture of the ground/hills needs some work. The bats themselves look alright, but they look too much like they were 2D images pasted on top of a 3D one. They need to be integrated better than that. They also look like they're a lot bigger than they should be.

I don't quite see how the patriotic theme fits in with Halloween. Then again, Halloween's not really my thing. =)

Thanks for the comments... how would I go about making a 2D more 3D like?
Also the Patriotic theme fits in (In my opinion) because ummm... well... errr..aaa.. WE"RE AT WAR! :-)
Iknow no troups are in your back yard but we still are fighting and thats how it goes with Halloween (and Christmas) {:-()>

I was going to say something in the other thread... I was just waiting for it to get moved for some reason.

I doesn't really look 3D to me. Looks like a bunch of 2D elements were slapped together over Bryce water and sky.

Red bat = bad

What exactly is that yellow/red thing in the water? It almost looks like a setting sun, but it's got a mountain silhouette behind it. Hmm...

The patriotic element has got to go.

Those are the things that strike as wrong. I wish I could offer some advice on how to fix it, but I'm at a loss.

Your lighting is fubar.

The orange thing (what IS that?) is lit from left-rear, while the 2D pasted in elements are mostly lit from the low-front. Tends to make it really obvious they don't belong in the scene.

The glowing yellow thing on the left looks like it should be cranking out enough light to at least partially illuminate the mountains in the back, but it isn't.

The red bat has been incorrectly colorized. The shadowed areas are too light, and the light areas are too washed out. You'd get better results colorizing with Curves.

The rock thing on the right is way out of scale. It looks like it's 8 inches tall, from the texture scale, but its size in the scene should be huge.

The clouds are way too purple for a sky that blue. Given the theme, I'd turn the sky to a much darker shade. Even then, the clouds could stand a bit less saturation.

and the bat that is just above the S on Spooky. It doesn't have the face of a bat. I has the face of a hamster.

Btw, the large orangish spere to the right (with the red bat) was going to be a large pumpkin, but alas, my skillz of carving and creating its stem were failing miserably so I stopped.
