Gotta love it. I admire people that take low-end stuff and do spiffy things. Slime comes to mind with his spiffy POV-Ray things. Slime, you are my hero. Wasn't it Schitzoboy that did the dog after only a week with Wings 3D? Kudos for that.

When will I get my ass in gear?

In other forums I've been pushing Wings 3D and POV-Ray for people that want to get their 3D feet wet. I want to jump in the above discussion with POV-Ray, but I need something clarified. Somebody recently mentioned having problems with getting Wings' meshes into POV-Ray. It had something to do with one of the plug-ins or one of the softwares being updated. Please refresh my memory before I go shooting off my mouth.

Also, can POV-Ray smooth meshes once they are imported? I think this was also mentioned, but I need my memory refreshed on this as well.

Yeah It was me

Pov doesn't smooth the meshes unfortunetly Perhaps someone (me) should add that as a feature request for 4.0. To get around this you just have to smooth the entire mesh in wings a couple of times before exporting. As for exporting to pov I havn't done that in the recent versions, but I do know that both wings and the plug-in have been updated a lot recently. I think by at most wings 1.0 pov-ray export will be a built-in feature. I've been pushing it as much as I can on the Wings 3D board. I think the current plug-in isn't completely accurate and you hafta do a lil text editing before it works in pov. I don't know the details though. Wish I could be of more help.

::edit:: wings is cool ::edit::

The problem with the povray export is that it was written for a very specific version of wings, so specifically that it doesn't work with more recent versions.

I'm not crazy about how it adds tons of extraneous stuff, either... i'd like a simple mesh, no cameras, lights, or any of that. And an option to leave it textureless would be nice.

Man... someone made that human with wings3d? that's *really* impressive. I have a lot of trouble with the program. Hard to think of the model in the way it wants you to. Of course, the problem is, once he finishes that model, the human is stuck in that position =)
