Topic awaiting preservation: Weird happenings with license for Max4.02 (Page 1 of 1)

When I go to start Max v4.02 it says that a component of the software license is not available. The program will exit. (Code 1).
I dont get this as Ive had Max working for agessss. I was playing around so to speak with the regedit in Win2k, Drive E (Max is installed in Drive D and opens in Drive C which is Win ME). I went nowhere near any files to do with Max but would this be the cause of it or what could it be???

sorry i dont really know what it could be, but check the settings in your c:\C_DILLA directory. the license manager for max.

Yeah, it could be a C_Dilla problem, then you just have to re-authorize it.
I've seen problems like this happen before, I'm pretty sure its one of Discreets piracy-prevention systems (when you screw around with the reg codes, or move the folder it's in, the license needs to be re-authorized). If you get the pop-up on startup, with the option to authorize, just do that. Or else you might need to reinstall.

First you might want to check the discreet website though.

The thing that really sucks is the fact that doesnt give me that option when it does pop-up:S
And the other thing that sucks when I go to re-install it, I've got all the 3dsMaxSetup.cab's except for cab2!!!
Why and how in the hell this happened I have no idea.

Missing a cab file? Try installing it off the CD...
