thnx! =) hmm.. the technique I used... I started with a rectangle... converted do edit mesh.. extruded edges..
and so on.. =) started around the eye and continued to the mouth etc.. so I didn't do standard box-modelling here
and I liked this much better =) to build polygon for polygon, weld, cut, extrude and finaly tha Meshsmooooth
I'll start modelling the body now as soon as I've come up with a good skiss of her =) more to come that is... =D
edit: oh and i've used 3dsmax5 =)

plz continue gimme your comments on improvements or just on how you like it..

thnx! whoa she had nice eyes but she's not an elf.. I've made the eyes go up and be pointy (pointy? sharp..) at the outside.. pherhaps I'll make them even sharper to follow the eyelid more.. But that's just my imagination about how an elf should look like.. maybe we think differently.. but hey thanks for your oppinion! =)

well ata I really didnt mean the sharp eyes...what i had in mind were actualy an eyeballs...instead making them so detailed, I think its better to keep em simple...just like in that picture...they are not really very 3D lookin but kind of flat like in Japanimation anime...
well still its your model after all....just try to fallow the pros...not me I mean them the people that made that model
try this up close view http://www.tecmo.co.jp/product/doa3/jpg/e3ssl03.jpg

ok.. thnx! I've planned to make the facial textures when the model is finished.. maybe it's time to start with that soon.. =) hmm.. photoshop work for some weeks now =)

about her age.. thinking about making the forhead a bit less extruded... and tweak the shape of the head so that it's not so round (lika a child's) and maybe make the area under the chin a bit wider.. but that's just small corrections.. I think the texture will do it's work and most of all the hair =)

Ok... I've started testing with her hair.. and this is how It's begun.. http://home.oea.se/oea01148/elfhairBETA.jpg

I've only made two "zones" and the hair is growing through the other mesh but that's a problem for the future a little bit of dynamics and colition would solve that I think.. plz gimme your comments.. and if anyone have used shag:hair (which I created the hair with) please gimme tips on how to improve..

ata..

the model is great, the hair needs body, now that can be worked in by using trans maps, bump maps, and texture maps, at the moment it looks like ya did the hair in photoshop as post render work...

just one major final bit of advice the same as i gave to OlssonE, remember that you are going to be animating this, start planning now how to animate it, for example..

1.how will the hair work with gravity, when she moves etc...
2.facial and body animation..

it might seem a small point, but this is what separates a nice looking model from an animatable usefull model..

its shit like this that will get ya noticed, if it l;ooks pretty but is a real freaking nightmare to work with, it will not get ya noticed.

a potential employer will look at it and say "hmm pretty" but no real planning went into it..

you have an excellent base to work on, keep at it...

one final bit of advice from an "old fart" is decide on texture type now

If ya going for a photorealistic style like say in the final fantasy film, dont mix texture styles, everything has to look real...

same applies for anime style cartoons, modelling etc...

all this has to be done way before modelling, ya probably know all this, but i thought i'd bring it up for ya in case3 ya didnt, and maybe point a few people in the right direction who are starting out...

rant over, help given...now i am gonna shut up as i am off home for a few weeks......

Great work, but I must say one thing. She doesnt look like an elf, I don't now a lot about modeling and animation, but she doesnt have the full impresion of an elf.

This is my oppinion, elfs usually have long thin faces, yours is more round, a little bit fatter, I see a human more than an elf, but this is what I think, and I dont know if that will make the animation more difficult, or whatever it will cause

But great work!

I know about the round head.. but female elfs don't have the long hard face like a male elf... but anyway, It's good that someone confirmed my thoughts about the round face.. the only "problem" it will cause is more work for me =)
