I am trying to run something using a laptop and personal web server. With a network card in it and plugged in it worked fine. Disconnect the network card and it keeps saying

The Web Page you requested is not available offline. To view this page click connect.

We have tried using the computers name, localhost, and 127.0.0.1, and work offline is checked. What do I need to do.

you know what I had the same problem and never really figured it out.

Have you tried making an lmhosts file locally? That might allow you to get to the page in question.

you need to install something called 'loop back device'.
It's basically an 'network adapter' driver, than emulates a network adapter... there's one from microsoft coming with windows somewhere in the control panel/network/install...
but I don't recall exactly where. sorry.

so long,

Shite I found it.

I should have thought about it more first it's actually not in the Network settings. You need to add new "hardware" (I used the Add new Hardware Wiz on Win 2K here at work hopefully it's in the same spot on XP at home) If you go through that and Add a Network Adapater and Choose from list under Microsoft it's there.

Handy info though I had to fly to NY for work a couple of months ago and wanted to write some stuff and couldn't figure it out how to get the server to work offline then.
