Hey, what's the best way to set up a polling system, like the amihotornot.com deal? I'm working on a site with some friends, Is Joe Dirty or Not?, and i'm not sure the best way to go about it...would it be cgi?

grats42: This was recently done as part of an intro to ASP in a UK Internet magazine and if you were interested I could probably dig the code out for this if it would make things easier (if you are using PHP it can be ported over easily - he says airily).

That would be great emp. I'll take it. I'm also teaching myself Perl at the moment and it seems pretty easy and very useable. Seems like a whole lot of these server side languages are very similar...

thanks

Sympoll is also a very nice polling script written in PHP...

I don't really have access to MySQL at the moment...its $15 more a month...

I was planning on just starting out with a basic flat-file polling system...I think I might have gotten the preliminary done in Perl. Though I'm still new to the idea of fully dynamic content web-sites and its sorta difficult to think through it seems...

Proxy2's polling program does support flat files and is for free for non commercial use!
