Ok I have searched the Ozone archives for information about shopping carts and CC transactions and I have found a lot! My question[s]:

For all those out there familiar with this process, what is the easiest and most stable collection of programs, scripts, interfaces that would give a GRAPHICS person a clue?! I haven't yet had to do anything of this sort, and am beginning to curl up into fetal position with fear and anxiety! Steering me in the right direction would be most appreciated!

Is there a tested and ready solution for this that someone could offer?

...maybe this should be in Outpatient Counseling...

Naw, this is Server-Side stuff. I have never rolled my own before, but I was going to start to do something a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away in VB. Never even got off the ground

You may find something (may cost $$$) at HotScripts. I re-did a site for a freind and they already had an account with CoolCart

If you find something let us know. I would be interested in it.

Thumper: I'm not clear on what you are looking for. A fully integrated shopping cart system will probably cost you quite a bit of money. If you are looking to do it yourself then have a look at something like this:
www.devshed.com/Server_Side/PHP/PHPShop

It walks you through implementing the script. If you aren't that experienced with the coding then you should really do some homework before attempting something like this (or pay someone to instal it for you).

It depends on what you want to do and what you want to spend.

On a related topic, I would like to try and roll my own as well. What I am really struggling with is finding a good e-commerce (it doesn't even have to involve shopping carts right off) idea that involves accepting credit card orders, but does not involve inventory or much work from me (implementing the store can take all the work it takes, but actually running the store I would love to be simple and mostly automatable).

It doesn't have to be a profitable idea, just plausible. Unfortunatly, all I can come up with is a porn site, and I just don't really want to go there. Ya, know?

Any ideas?

Well actually I work with a partner that does most of the coding we do (Red Ninja). Although his php knowledge base far surpasses my own, we still need some direction on the issue in terms of low cost, and ease of implementation. I have scraped the barrel at Hotscripts and have found much there too. My main concern is finding something out there that works well based on a few Ozoners having used it. I think, in all, I'm looking for an "I've used it and it works great" testimonial from someone who knows what's involved.

Emps, this IS my homework! I have found it commonplace to start at the Asylum though, because I know that this forum is stockpiled with experience. I am just trying to broaden my knowledge of code a little more and be prepared for the inevitable "I wanna sell my products online" customer. Up to this point we have only dealt with informational pages, do I figured I'd better git crackin'! Thanks for the link! I will read this later tonight and see if I can't put a dent in this. Thanks...

Thumper: I suppose by 'homework' I meant get a grasp of the fundamentals before attempting to take on something like this. Have a crack at the GN tutorials in this area and then have a look at relevant ones at DevShed - they have a lot of good stuff there.

Actually I used PHPshop to great success but it is a bit to get it designed nicely.
It really makes integration much easier.

They are actually working on a core group of libraries that can be used independantly of the whole shop too.
