Hi there,

I'm sending word to let you know that http://www.3dbuzz.com will be producing free video training magazine cds for PHP and MySQL integration.

The 1st issue will explore some of the following:
* Installation of the Apache Web Server
* Installation of MySQL
* Installation of PHP4
* Creating Databases
* Creating Tables
* Connecting an HTML document to your database
* Entering records through forms
* Displaying records

This series will get VERY technical very fast and it will contain valuable information.

They are making these training cds available to people worldwide and will even cover cost of shipping. New issues will be released either monthly or bi-monthly and get increasingly advanced. They will always remain free and subscription is only required once.

I've already been receiving training cds from 3D Buzz (for Maya) and they are a class act and I'm looking forward to their PHP training. Hopefully some of you can benefit from this information. The first issue should be released within the next few days.

Regards,

draz

I just wanted to add that the option to choose php and MySQL has not yet been added to the subscription page but will be added shortly.
To access the subscription page you click the "Free Video Training" banner on the home page.

Hi draz! (Or is it Jason?) Hmm, you might be wondering why nobody jumped onto your thread here, saying things like "Oh boy!" Chances are that's because, well, this sounds an awful lot like your own site, and the above posts also sound quite like pretty blatant advertising. Perhaps if you had introduced yourself first, maybe posted a few times, etc... I must say I'm quite proud of the group here, usually we can count on *somebody* from our 2000+ members to post a few rude comments or something, heh heh.

So! Before we all rush off and register at your site, why don't you tell us more about you and what you do, eh? How's it going, what have you been up to? We don't want to relate to you as a commercial reference, we're all mostly more comfortable relating to each other as people first.

Just a quick heads-up, don't want you to get too dissapointed that your thread here didn't take off.

Hi ya Doc,

I've actually been a long time visitor of your site and it's forums, well for a couple of years now I mostly lurk however but you are right, you have a great group of people here and are right to be proud of them.

I am not the owner of that site (though I am a moderator of one of the forums there) and I apologize if this seems like blatant spamming. It was only my intent to help others know about what he is doing in trying to help educate people that might not be able to afford an education. I know it seems like a scam when you hear someone tell you that something is free but in this case it truly is. Jason Bubsy is the Director of Animation at the Renaiassance center in TN where he teaches 3d professionally as well as web development. He is using his own savings to fund this project. I just assumed that someone might be interested in knowing about the offer of free training cds. In hindsight I should have posted a few times getting to know people before posting this.

As for myself, I'm 29 years old, living in Toronto Canada and began with an interest in web development but quickly migrated to 3D graphics and animation of which I am still learning alot about. Actually inititally the cds that I talk about in the first post were being produced for an education in learning particular software packages such as Maya, XSI and 3DSMAX. Sometimes it feels like there is just too much to learn but I'll always have fun trying. Hmm what else, I spent far too much time on the computer but I'm sure many of you here are guilty of this as well.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Doc. If you do end up visiting the site, you will see that we are in fact two differnt people.
Again I apologize for the obvious advertisement.

Cheers

draz

Heh heh. I *knew* this wasn't a real spam-type thing, even if it might have first appeared that way! I'm also pretty sure that this is why nobody else jumped into this thread, I could almost hear people thinking, "hey! wasn't that spam? Or was it not?" I kinda had a feeling I had to be the first one to say anything, otherwise people might have just avoided this thread!

So! Good to meet you, I know I'd seen your name before in the 3D forum, and had kinda pegged you as a lurker (which is always a good thing in a new community! That's how I do it usually, I likes to lurk. :-) I was thinking, if you had popped in and said something like "Hey! I'm a new mod at this other forum, come see what we're doing, and let me know what you think!" you'd have gotten more response.

This Jason sounds like a cool guy, it's funny how many of the best things on the net are created, funded and maintained by just plain people who give a shite, that's one of my favorite things about the net, really.

FWIW, if I appeared mad, I sure wasn't, I just felt it was my place to poke some fun at ya, heh heh. Congratulations on your de-cloaking!

Doc,

Thanks for understanding. You did not come across mad at all. Actually your reply was the friendliest I've received so far. To be honest I posted this message among other forums where it was not appreciated and they let me know it by taking away my posting privelages and banning me. My intentions were good but if I had opened with your suggestion, things may have gone better. Some places do not want you sharing anything or including a url to another site, so I thank you for not removing this post.

I totally agree with you. When I first heard about this I said "whatever...who does he think he is going to fool" but it has restored my faith in knowing that there are really people that care about others on the net. It's not often that you see such selflessness.

Take care,

draz
