I just wanted recommend a book for anyone wanting to learn PHP and MySQL; and/or anyone who wants obtain further information about server-side concepts and implementations. Last week I bought a book called, ?PHP and MySQL Web Development? authored by Luke Welling and Laura Thomson. I?m currently about half way finished reading it and am already quite impressed with the amount of valuable information the text contains. Not only is PHP and MySQL covered from beginning to advanced, there are also issues covered such as, installation, system architecture, networking, security, e-commerce, managing large scale projects, authentication, forums, email and PDF documents. The authors have done a very good job explaining concepts while at the same time providing concise implementation examples.

Just a thought, if anyone?s looking a good web development resource.

I also highly recommend that book. Its the best book I have for ANY language, and stays on my desk

I had already gone through most of the book before i started a course using PHP at college, and guess what the text book was? BTW the book is by Sams and comes with a CD containing php, mysql, apache and a bunch of other stuff. if you're learning PHP and don't have this book - GET IT!

lol, quite a coincedance that i stumbled over this post.

It was only last night that I spent 2 hours in a book store looking at different php / mysql books.

Which one did I buy, you got it -php and mysql web development. It seems the businness.

The only gripe I might yet have is that the book is quite old, and as php has been revised, some of the coding examples in the book might not work?
