Don't even ask me why it came up twice...I guess double-the-fun.

You might want to look through the resources here:
http://faq.ozoneasylum.com/292/

However, I'm not sure that it would be any good even if you got rid of the green - its not bad its just....

1) canned bevels just don't work. they never come out looking like bevels, they always end up more like dark and light smudges across the top and bottom. I think I gave links before to some good tutorials at the gn that could help with that. If I'm mistaken, just click that link at the bottom of the page and check out the Photoshop section.

2) for what is there, I think it's at least twice as large as it should be. It could be made much more attracative simipy by slimming down.

3) The text is just out of place all around. the font doesn't fit in, and the placement is somwhat off balance.

4) I actually like the little green.....smudgy things at the end, they make me think of tadpols or something more extrra terestrial.

So to recap - use a method of beveling that will give you better control and make them blend better. get a font that fits, and make sure to place it with a little more thought as to it's position. cut the overall size in half.

Go for something more subtle and refined.

The bevel effect looks very unrealistic. Used a filter?

two things:

1) i admire your tenacity in posting here and the effort you put into trying to get a handle on this 'design/art with photoShop' thing, and

2) i'm very aware that there are quite a few faqs and refs not only on this site, but scattered across the www, and keeping track of this and that can amount to a full time job (which is why i don't go to work 7 out of 7 days sometimes ), but i think that as far as the color scheme of this sig goes, you'd find some benefit by putting this page at the top of your favorites list.

i think point 'c' specifically applies...

Well, since it's almost the season of giving, I'm gonna do half the work for ya'.

If you will look here: http://www.gurusnetwork.com/tutorials/photoshop/droplets2.html

and take notice of steps 8,9, and 10. Applied to any shape they will give you a very good bevel effect with a lot of control.

See, the trick is to tutorials to pick up skills, not just to create a single effect. So, 3 steps from a water droplet tutorial (an awesome tutorial BTW) can be applied to a bevel problem.

As for the sig, I'm not sure a bevel would be needed at all. Try a new color scheme and shrink the whole thing down.

Hey, I worked on this a bit, and realized I honestly don't understand these bevel effects well enouph yet, so for the time being, I just used a very light bevel. I think it looks cool, but well see. I will probably be posting a few different shoices.
ATTENTION:This will not be the final size, this is just for viewing!

Like phyreHazard said, I also admire your quest for ps and graphics.

Tip - Try simple designs first, until you get proficient in PS, then you can move on to more complex designs

Illustration:

I used your overall shape and ended up with a clean and nice looking siggie. And like everyone else has pointed out GN has most of what you'll ever need to become a guru in PS.

Okay...I'm wonderinb why the name came out so jaggie, it didn't look like that in PS...
