Some of you may recognize this as my old sig, but I couldn't find the original, so I made it again.

It still cuts off a wee bit too sharp.

The color settings on my monitor must be off cause it looks fine to me. I will adjust the settings and take a look at it.

Yup, your monitor must be quite dark.

My old monitor was rather dark, and would show the BG here as almost black...and a couple of my sigs seemed to blend in great until I looked at them from another computer =)

Just out of curiosity, how do you know you have the correct monitor settings? Isn't it all subjective?

I don't know if there is any such thing as "correct" but there is definately a point at which it is simply too dark or too light.

But, even that is rather subjective I suppose.

"Correct" is when rgb(254,254,254), for instance, is exactly twice as bright as rgb(126,126,126). It's when the RGB numbers are exactly proportional to the brightness of their respective colors on the screen (brightness = c * value, where 0 <= value <= 1).

Lots of PC monitors have very high gammas, which mean they darken the colors in the middle. (something close to brightness = c * (value ^ 2.2). 2.2 is the gamma value. Macs, I believe, usually have 1.8.) My laptop screen has a different sort of gamma curve, I believe, but it seems to be very close to correct. That sig has more problems on the dark background than on the light one. But I've seen this forum on a dark monitor, and I understand that you can't see the difference. Nonetheless, it should be fixed.

So how does one set the monitor to be "correct?" I have tried to eyeball it, but I would rather it be done right.

OK, I adjusted my monitor and changed the transparency to blend a bit better. It seems to be better now, unless my monitor is still off. Input anyone?
