I don't understand about not linking to images from outside this forum and I'm having real trouble thinking less than 30 kilobytes..

So is there a curse or something that I have fallen under now?

And while I'm at it... that's a pretty big file. And the flashes could be a little more convincing....

Nice idea, though.

Sorry about the size Suho1004, back to the workshop for me... I thought it had to be under 50 kilobytes?

Despite the fact that your nickname is hardly readable, and the humongous size fuch such a tiny thing, it's a lovely and original sig. A small jump is noticeable though.

Hmm tell me, you used Cool 3D right ?

As MS alluded to, it's not so much the absolute size, it's the file size relative to the pixel size of the image. Both of those are a tad on the large side. Not so large that they make me want to perform seppuku, of course, but just a tad large.

And I think I like the second one better... the light flashes on the first one are really a big turn-off for me.

I think I should not be doing this at 4:30am. Ok I was dabbling with Fireworks and first time I have messed with transparency and edges issues. why does it export with these horrible jagged edges, when on preview it was smooth?

Well, the GIF format only supports binary transparency, which means a pixel is either "on" or "off".
In Fireworks, it looks smooth because the program automatically anti-aliases everything, but when you export it as a GIF, it goes into binary transparency.

When you make the selection, you'll have to specify "no feathering" and "no anti-aliasing" or some other option to that effect.

Sorry, that made no sense. Allow me to re-explain.

In order to get the smooth edge, you should set the background of the image to the same background as these forums (try #2B0404). Then they won't look jagged because they blend into the background of the page.

Actually that made a whole lot of sense Ozphactor, but if I put a background then it is no longer transparent, right? I see some others sigs and they have beautiful seamless transparent edges. Thats what I am seeking to achieve.

also try using the matte option when saving out with the same hex color ozphactor gave you... those white jagged edges are ugly

I re-tried it in photshop but there are a lot of options that I have to get familiar with. As regards putting the Ozone colours in the background, how do I resolve the alternating colours? without manually uploading sig each time?

It's still not transparent, but you've got the right color in the background...

In photoshop, first hide the layer with your background color. File -> Save for Web. Choose gif from the dropdown menu. Check the transparency box. Put #2B0404 into the box that asks for "matte."

Oh, and try using this every so often too:

The short answer: You can't.
The long answer: It doesn't matter. The two colors used in the asylum are so close to each other, and are so dark, that any difference in the antialiasing is virtually imperceptible. Just choose a color that's reasonably close (you can even eyeball it), and it'll look fine. Trust me

I took a while to figrue out what you meant in the edited messages up top regarding linking outside of this forum, but I finally got it, and it looks like nobody answered that, so here goes -

The people who have offered up sig hosting services aroiund here did it specifically for the Asylum. They have implemented ways to stop people from uploading images and using them whereever they want. That's all...
