this one was done in pov ray by using a height field. please check this post first. i also thought of doing some sort of animation with it...what do you think? a camera motion or so? or should i just put all the different camera views shown in the other post together to one sig? or should i leave it as it is now?

It looks pretty cool as it is, but I think animation is worth an attempt. It will definately look better if you animate it correctly.

Nah, I think the non-animated version looks good as it is.

I don't think you'll be able to animate this one smoothly without making the filesize humongous.

Then again, I would like to see that thing rotate...

I like the first one, mayhap a little more shadow or fade in around the "bottom" and "bottom sides" to give it a more 3D depth look.
Or, to try the animation, (and who can resist trying an animation)? The third one ^^ is a little "clunky" imho, I have no experience of POVRay or POVRay/PS compatibility. How about ozphactor's suggestion, rotation? That would eliminate the awkward stop/start and make use of the 3D by lighting from one main direction.
All in all, great work mas

Yup - 1st one. No animation, and add some more dramatic lighting and it's a keeper.

I agree with DL, but you could always try animating the light sources.

Ya know... that'd look really cool with light shot through the bottom of it.
