What do you think the world will be like in...

50 years?,

500 years?, or

5000 years?

This is a pretty broad topic, so feel free to include whatever you think, science-fictiony or not.

50 years: My brother outgrows his rebellious stage (maybe).

500 years: Microsoft celebrates the release of its one billionth security patch.

5000 years: A brave adventurer finally discovers and destroys Bill Gates' phylactery, ending the reign of the dreaded techno-lich.

OK, it's obviously getting pretty darn late here...

This kind of reminds me of the Asylum Think Tank thread WS started in the Philosophy forum a while back. That turned out to have some pretty funny stuff in it. We haven't quite gotten off to an auspicious start here, but there's always hope.

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.
Don't follow his example - seek real life help first.

50 yrs....All humans have a computer chip in their brain that gives us all instant access to the internet at all times, thus making calculators and a bunch of other useless stuff obsolete.

500 yrs...The moon is hit with a huge astroid and comes crashing down into our planet, a bunch of people die.

5000 yrs...People wonder why so many planets have moons surrounding them, but the planet earth does not.

50 years - life expectancy increases by 30+ years due to longevity drugs on the market.

500 years - Life expectancy has no 'end'...with the exception of rare cases.

5000 years - Death is unknown.

50 Years down the road: Overpopulation send us to other worlds, we begin to screw them up too. Wars continue to plague large amounts of countries as they do today, and international crime is at an all time rise.

500 Years later... : By this time we've abandoned Earth in search of a better living environment. There may have even been a few "restart events" along the way, but for the most part, history is widely lost and humanity remains scretched as thin as it can.

5000 Years after that: I can't see the human race, with it's biological and emotional problems always getting in the way of progress, going on this long. Seriously. We'll blow ourselves up or get so scretched out into the furthest corners of the galaxy that we won't recognize a whole civilization of us if we slammed into one. The ways of over 5000 years ago are long gone, ancient history, yet everything runs on Windows 98.
