Of Republics and Dictatorships, is there anyroom for a socialist territory? What do you think?

Im talking the real thing, not the corrupt socialism you hear about.

Why do you say eliminate all humans, it is possible to train humans to be a certain way.

Say a just leader who doesnt hunger for power.

Then again it takes years

Do you mean socialism or the ideal of communism? I will be glad to be educated on this, but was socialism not the child of communism gone bad?

Just a quick correction, SpyX...

socialism = economic system
communism = political system

In other words, socialism : capitalism

I was always under the impression that it was the other way around:

Communism : Capitalism

Wouldn't most of Europe qualify as a socialist territory now? Or are the European socialist experiments not the "real things" as you say?

it would never happen. never. ever.

If the leader did not hunger for power/money... blah... It could have a chance... till he was over thrown.

then.... poo.

well ya'll are both wrong. It would be Democracy: capitalism as Communism : socialism

in in fact that is how it is, but it isn't

as I understand it, Communism is the period of dictatorial rule needed to instill a socialist state per the Marxist vision, but just as our democratic republic's government will never agree on the perfect state of our government, pat themselves on the back, pack up and go home, especially with changing times and changing circumstances neither will a socialist government ever arise out of a communist forerunner.

Governments and all ruling powers are like car engines, got to keep changing the oil or the thing'll eventually cease to function at all, perhaps leading it's charge (the passengers) into great peril.
And sometimes they get so out of whack they need an overhaul.

Well, Germany has many components of a Socialistic system...albeit as a Democracy...

Only works if you have a lot of workers...that can be taxed to hell to support the rest...

Which Germany is now finding out...the entire system is slowly going to hell in a hand-basket here...

So...it can work...in theory, or for a short period of time...but then reality peeks its head in...

Genis: Actually, either way works...

"socialism is to capitalism as communism is to democracy" = "economic system is to economic system as political system is to political system"

Get it? The way you grouped them, you're pretty much doing a comparison between the Western systems and the Soviet (etc.) systems. I did it the way I did it to differentiate between socialism and communism for SPyX's sake.

I can't believe I'm explaining this...
