How the hell can anyone do this, for f..ks sake, wouldnt it have been better to approach social services and ask for help, have the kid put into care, or get some help.... BUT to abandon a 3 year old kid...thats just........................

The really worrying part is the kid sounds smart, and he says that he had 3 sisters but they dont live with them now...

Now thats at best the truth or child fantasy, at worst something happened to the other kids aswell...

Man i just cant believe that people could do this crap, when there is all sorts of support mechanisms out there

Not to give you a hard time, tom, but merely to make a point... why is it so hard to believe in man's inhumanity to man when our history and everyday actions are riddled with it? What I find much harder to understand is faith in humanity.

But I certainly understand your outrage and all I can say is that at least we can take some solace in the fact that the boy is being protected now. I don't want to think about what worse things could have happened.

bugs, i agree with you in some ways, but i still cannot believe that someone could just leave the kid alone in the middle of the shop, anything could have happened. As you say luckilly in this case the kid is safe. I dread to think of what could have happened, It brought back memories of a time i "lost" my son for about 5 mins in a store, he walked off to look at something while i was signing my credit card slip. Those were the longest five minutes of my life.

But back on track, i can accept the things the human race does to other adults more easily...It doesnt make it any more easy i know to justify or to condone, or in some cases people just turning blind eyes to things. With the horrors we see more and more each day it is hard not to get desensitized (sp.) to them.

What i cant stand and guess i will never do is when it affects children, the thing that stuck me more than anything else was the things that police said about the kid, neatly dress, well nourished no signs of neglect or abuse. It just doesnt add up..

I guess that one day the truth may out, (and what happened to his sisters if he did have any), but it just made me sad that some innocent 3 year old kid has been made the innocent victim of some set of circumstances.

Why am i angry, i guess because we as a race/species are almost unique in the cruelty and inhumanity that we show to our own species.

we call ourselves the most evolved on the planet, sometimes i think we are no better than the animals around us.

this is just plain sad.

tomeaglescz: You clearly haven't see the reports on the Victoria Climbie case which came to a head here recently (now that is cruel and brutal):

No other species do things that could be ranked as 'cruel' (lions eating the cubs of other males, killer whales playing with seals, etc.) they tend not to have morals which it offends - I suppose the thing that gets me is that we should know better but we don't

Emps: My point exactly, We have the ability to know better, we have morals.

As for lions eating cubs of other males i think thats down to thier way of making their genetic pool the dominant one. We do that in a different way, we bomb/murder people that dont fit in...its called genocide.

We choose to bring up kids when and where, animals tend to do it by natural instinct, the only time that they tend to leave their young is if something is wrong with them, or they cannot support them for some reason... They dont have things like social services, we do......

So for us there is NO excuse

yeah emps, it was just starting to tick over went i was back in the UK on holliday, no systems perfect but at least there is a system that could have been turned to, this case was different, both cruel in the fact that an innocent life has been effected, but the kids in the states showed no signs of abuse in fact just the plain opposite.

It is just so sad to see it affecting children

What is better? What is wrong with the natural process? If one of us kills another male's children to favor our own, why is it wrong as opposed to making our genes dominant? Please explain what this higher level of behavior is basen upon. (the preceeding should not be taken as snide but as an honest challenge to the Materialist position)
