I am sure you guys are getting pretty sick of all my new topics, but oh well... Work has been really slow.

This a real cool website that gives an excellent prespective on space and our relation to it.

Powers of 10

It really gives me a humbling feeling, and also sort of goes along with a new story which I just wrote, but isn't very good, its called Frank Smith.

Perhaps we really are living inside of another person?

I always thought about how humbling it would be for humanity to find out it existed in the toe cheese of some humongous being...

I remember seeing a film, in a planetarium or IMAX or something, about space and it's relative relation to us, and they had an interesting sequence that starts out in the farthest reaches of the known galaxy, travels down towards the earth, then too the earth, closing in on people, and then continuing down into the cells of living beings and then atoms, and the really interesting part was that when they got down into the atoms, it looked just the same as deep space!
Brings a whole new perspective to the macrocosm/microcosm theory... (As above, so below)

edit - then of course, I said all of this before I actually went to look at the web site (stupid stupid!) And it's the exact same thing! At least I'm on topic!

That's always been how I've looked at our existence. It just makes sense...everything that we can see is repeatd on a continuously diminishing scale...why woudln't be the same in both directions.

So the big question is - what type of atom is our solar system? And what molecule does our galaxy form??

Our atom is fluorine, which has 9 electrons going around the nucleus, same as our solar system with the nine planets.

quote:
Fluorine is the most electronegative and reactive of all elements.

Hummm, sort of sounds like humanity on the whole, negative and very reactive.

Or how many new universes are there between my eyes and my screen ? I like the notion of infinity too.

Actually, I would not say that we live inside another person. I would better say we are not a person. We are a mix of persons, a mix of identities, that all together form a total new thing, a new person. Star dust ? Yeah that's also a good analogy for this. We are constantly growing things, moving, thinking, but nevertheless we are made of the same atoms that were created 15 billion of years earlier. So, who can say he is fundamentally different ? Despite our differences, one can say that we are the same. So I, you, and everyone is living in our body, but by extent we are also living in everyone's body.

Also, each time someone born on this planet, we can say that he is richer than we are, because he is extended by the previous lives. I do not consider living in somebody else, I just consider I am the sum of everybody that lived before me. 1 + 1 = 3, the total is greater than the sum of the components. That's how we progress. But, unfortunately, some people do not make sums but substractions.

I think Slime (or someone) posted that link awhile back...it is kind of interesting, though...puts it in perspective, I guess.
