Both myself and axle watched a channel 4 programme about drug companies practises,. How they treat the third world, and even doctors who dont tow the line. It was extremely upsetting. Channel 4 has a forum about his programme
http://community.channel4.com/6/ubb.x?q=Y&a=tpc&s=162603557&f=3696002921&m=65160685&p=1

I have never seen such anger on a forum before, and righly so. I took my anger out on to the ceo of pfizer first, in an email, and now to depressed to make a post.

anything that contains 'tv, third world, and [mega coperation(s) of some kind] definatly belongs into the other silliness section, and this is where it goes.

Pink, this isn't the first time I move such a post for you. Please be considerate of my tired ol' mind and post such things straight to 'philosophy and other silliness',
which I believe is the right place to talk 'bout the worlds problems. Thank you.

so long,

pink: I often have difficulty deciding where to post a thread.

My rule of thumb is now:

If it has anything to do with right/wrong or tends to border on the ridiculous(as many of my posts do..) it goes in Philosophy & Silliness.

General statements/questions or interesting web-findings go to the main Forum

Coding issues- well, those are pretty easy to place...

and I just want to say that I always find your posts to be thought provoking and enjoyable, no matter where they are posted.

**************************************************************
I must add- Please take it easy on the mods. They have a tough job and I'm just glad I don't have to do it.

I am sure that without actually checking, that there are plenty of topics that have slipped through the net, the problem is that OZONE is a very broad section and i am sure that this post wouldnt have done anyone any harm being in there. Pink is a new member here and I am sure a little bit more patience wouldnt have hurt. If you really had to move the thread, then move it, but pointing out that you have had to do this before is unnessecary. As a new member, mistakes will be made, but i am sure it wasnt on purpose.

Anyways, whether right or wrong, the topic is important, and as Pink mentioned, i also watched the programme, and i found it quite harrowing to say the least. You think you can trust these people with your lives and yet, information about the practise of these individuals featured in the program is totally outrageous.

Those of you outside of the UK may never get to see the aired program, but in summary, it was about how the BIG Pharma companies have a hold on the lives of those people who are dying. People who are suffering have to pay HUGE amounts of monies for medicines, that have been proven to be manufactured far cheaper than they are selling them for, but are out of reach to thoise that need them because of trade laws.

These companies have so much of a hold on the government that they can alomost dictate whatever they want, and get it.

How can they do this ? How can they just let people die, because they cant afford it ?

The program featured one little boy, but his case is typical of thousands of others. He was dying of AIDS, and needed medicine for thrush of the throat, just so he could eat. In order for him to get this medicine, it had to be smuggled in from a neighbouring country, because the price within his own counrty was out of his and his families reach. $28 per pill, when the price he could have gotton it for was only $.30 next door. If you can get those medicines for that price, then why do they charge so much ? This is just 1 example, there were many others in this program.

When someone wants to help, they have to break the law to do so, why ? Its ridiculous.

I have so much anger about this myself, but if you take a visit to Pinks link and read what other have had to say you will see that we are not alone.

PROFIT is no excuse for death.....

Pity I missed that - is it being repeated (I can just about get S4C). This is a big issue - see:
www.guardian.co.uk/aids/story/0,7369,897307,00.html

pink: This forum is a much better home for this and TP was perfectly justified in moving this and commenting on it - you weren't justified to be rude. If you don't like it you know where the door is.

axleclarkuk: You don't have to apologise or explain her behaviour.

I made a post on SARS in the general OZONE forum, but that never got moved ? An example of how posts slip through the net.

DL-44, Would you care to explain what type of person Pink is ? What exactly qualifies you to pass judgment on her ?

quote:

How about you give a little respect to Pink for posting here, instead of slamming her posts all the time, then maybe she would'nt be so damn wound up, or maybe you like to play the OZONE BULLY BOY ?

I'm just glad that the majority of members here on OZONE dont share your level of arrogance.

Emps, i have no doubt that Channel 4 will repeat it, there seems to be a lot of media interest, so i guess it will be in there favor for audience figures.

seems to me I can barely make a post without pink throwing an unwarranted rude comment at it.

It also seems to me that pink has demonstrated a *complete* lack of respect for this place and it's people. I still don't understand your twisted rerlationship with pink, but I highly doubt she needs you running around behind her trying to justify everything she does...

I would personally suggest relaxing a bit axle, but that's just me.

DL-44, i am relaxed, and Pink does not need me running around after her, she is more than capable of doing that herself, but whenever she does, she is met with sarcastic comments, I am merely defending her off of my own back.

As far as twisted relationship with her, you all know the story, but, and i will repeat once again, as a result of what happened in here, a lot of help was gained, and my thanks to everyone that posted positive advice, things between us are as happy as they have ever been. Those that have judged Pink in here, have done so based on her posts. Yes, she is a strong opinionated person, and some of you may not like what she has to say, but thats what happens here.

DL-44, i get the impression that you just sit there waiting for Pink to post, just so you can throw in a sarcastic comment, knowing it will wind her up. Maybe thats just the way you are, but then, its not just Pink, its anyone who posts something that doesnt quite fit the " norm ", the only difference is, she reacts, and i cant blame her.

[sarcasm]Maybe you should relax a little, you never know DL-44, you may even enjoy it. [/sarcasm]

and another thread, which started off great drawing attention to something that we should be made aware of drops to the level of childish bickering, now i remember why i have stayed away from the phil and silliness forum. Too often personalities and egos get trampled on, good intentions are misunderstood...

and ya end up reading through line after line of total utter crap trying to glean anything sensible from it...often having to scroll back to the top of the page just to remember what the heel it was about in the first place...

I have been guilty enough myself on occaision, so how about everyone take a deep breath scroll up look at the topic, and stick with it, or if ya cant just close the damn thing down...

Unbelievable...

Pink, you need to cool down, pronto. You need to consider the hard, cold fact that this is not your 'personal' stompin' grounds...that this place belongs to the Doc...and that he appointed Mods, to care for the place...

If you want a place, where you can post anything your heart desires, where-ever your heart desires, I suggest going out and getting some personal webspace...then you can bray to your hearts desire...

TP was more than within his right, to move this thread...you could have just taken the advice graciously...*shrugs*

With comments like

quote:
Oh, shove it, Prime...

, you are not building bridges...in fact, you are doing the opposite. Be aware that people will form an opinion of you, not on who you really are, but on how you act here, and what you say...your entry here was anything other than glorious...and you are rapidly building a 'negative' image...with such remarks...but maybe that does not interest you...so be it.

AxelClark - you know better...you really do. I understand that your feelings are in the way, here...and that you are drawing conclusions from information that we do not have...personal information...be that as it may, consider how it looks to us...without that.

I myself have not noticed any 'visciousness' on behalf of DL on Pink here...in fact, he's been quite consistent in his approach...just drop by the PS area, and read...

Too bad twItch^ doesn't drop by all that often anymore...or DG...now there are two that can rip someone to ribbons with mere words...and in earlier times, such a post would have deserved it.

I remember the time Taxon gave me a sound 'spanking', for jumping on Jenny...which was well-deserved. I chose to learn from it...deflate that ego...and deal with it. I now see, in hindsight, that he did me a great favor...and I am very grateful for that. Others, that ignore such, slowly find their way full of obsticles...just ask InSiDeR...he went through...what? A year? of running head-first into that wall, before it slowly 'dawned' on him...and still has to deal with this #legacy', from time to time.

Get over yourselves...too bad, because the original topic was pretty interesting...but it got side-lined by a hissy-fit...*shrugs*

Whatever.

Axle: Stop defending your fuckmate. It's unseemly and highlights an insecurity in yourself and your relationship, and a great lack of character on her part to need such an inadequate and incompetent "protector".

If that isn't the image you wish to convey, then sitting down and shutting your vaccuous maw might be a consideration given your penchant to dig deeper holes.

---------------------------------------------

pink: You seem a perfectly vapid twit (twat?) that wastes bytespace on a false idea of self-importance. That's neither stunning, nor abnormal. You're merely one of a string of bacterium that pass by here on occasion, bringing little save for a slight drip (axle?) and the momentary need to cough. You're to be expelled in a flurry of airborne phlegm little to be remember other than for the nagging feeling that you could have been something more important.

The rub of that paragraph-let was this; get over yourself, as noone else cares for you to the extent that you do, and your displays of *that* sing high to the heavens of being predictable, pathetic, and purile. You might be a contribution one day (which I'd doubt, but I'm wrong on occasion..I'm sure) but it would require a re-evaluation of what a complete lack you are right now. Your presence in a thread seems to signal less than nothing, a sucking void of what could have been intelligent diatribe.

---------------------------------

WS: No, there's no cause to tear anyone apart in words. These are the weak, not the merely stupid. They're ultimately innocuous because they hold their idiocy close to the chest, wallowing in it, unable to spread it. The weak are not to be beaten down, just educated if they can be. This isn't a situation to attack, it's one to mourn.

Human potential...fully wasted every time their fingers move over keys. Communication must be less of a respite and more of a bane to them. Pity them, don't hate.

It is truly pitiful.

Even if it going properly no one is going to want to have to scroll down through the above checking to see if anything relevant had been inserted in the 'Play for the Day'. I was thinking of bringing this subject up around the start of the year when th US scuppered any possible plans for generic medicines for the developing world and it might be worth starting a new thread to see how that one goes but for some reason the feeling in my waters is that it might go the same way as this one.
