If you could be an historical character, who would you choose ?

PS : You may think lately I have began diggging in the inmates personalities, and to be frank, it is maybe the case

I can't choose just one.

Picasso - Never need drugs, get to be a prick to everyone and still be loved!
Atilla the Hun? Take?n it to da Romans! Yah death!
King Louie XIV ? Who wouldn?t want to be in France at this time in history?
Cleopatra IV - I have no idea who the 4th was but Egypt is cool and from what I know, the 4th didn't die horribly. Plus I get boobs! Always a bonus.
Aristotle - Need I really say why?

Edit: Now I know why I almost failed history... Atilla the Hun, not Ghandi... same difference, not really but... and King Louie XIV, not the XIII... man, you'd think even a king could get an original name...

Actually, now that I've had time to think about it. I'd probably choose Shakespeare.

Sequoia - he brought a written language to my people.

Drac, unless I'm badly mistaken, Ghandi had nothing to do with the Romans...it was the English he 'took it' to.

WebShaman - I don't know what history books you're reading, but Ghandi rode into Rome from Carthage on the backs of elephants. After that, he ravaged China as the Khan of a Mongol horde. Geez, get some learnin', you!

[Edit: Oh, I suppose I should have answered the question... Nikola Tesla, Abraham Lincoln or Leonardo da Vinci]

For the sake of history, it might be interesting to be Hitler to find out what really made him so psychotic and generally evil. Either that or being J. Robert Oppenheimer, one of the main creators of the atomic bomb.

For Me:
Ieyasu Tokugawa - the founder of a dynasty, unifer of japan- life would be good
Miyamoto Musashi or Jack Kerouac - an adventurous way to find oneself
Alexander the Great, Napoleon, Charles of Spain, or any of the Baghdad caliphs(that weren't putzes)- Hell, why aim small, give me empire, give me riches.
Jose Marti - The father of Cuba, not a bad life
Che Guevarra - running around the world, drinking, meeting women, and starting revolutions. Can't go wrong there.
One of the Medici Dukes - Florence, Reniassance, all mine: nuff said.
Overall- Teddy Roosevelt- all of life was an adventure, I think he was in to that "temperence" thing but I'd take care of that.

One of the onlookers during the time of Jeanne d'Arc. One of Christ's diciples (St.Peter most likely). A courtisan for Louis XIV. An actor in one of Shakespeare's many comedies. Or perhaps a general in the 2nd world war. I could go on, but you get the idea...

Hmm... I've always wanted to be Mark Twain, just because of the way he wrote. But he wasn't really a very happy man. I imagine Terry Pratchett has more fun, but he's not dead yet. If I didn't mind being an utter scoundrel, I could be Josephus - he had an exciting life, lived his elder years in comfort, died old, wrote books that are still important today. If I'm thinking of whose life I would honestly prefer, I'd have to admit that I'd want a relatively quiet life, the life of a genius in a brilliant society that appreciated him but could still be a litle outraged by his more daring thoughts - say, Socrates. Or David Hume.

tikigod, have you read Eiji Yoshikawa's Musashi? It's a truly wonderful historical romance, right up there with the best of Dumas.

C.S. Lewis is a good one. The man had dignity and wisdom that shone through in his writing. He also had a lot of grief in his life - but maybe everyone does.

This is such a weird topic for me. I honestly can't think of anyone I would want to be other than me. I guess it would make more sense for me to think about whose lives I would like to emulate. People I really admire and such.

Yeah, I'd loved to have been a smart-ass kid that got spit out by his own people and ended on a cross with a Roman soldier prodding my side with a spear to see if I'm really dead
I'm sorry, but really, if anyone had a bad life in his time, it was Jesus, wether you see it from a Biblical or any other point of view...

Hm..I prefer rolplaying though, then you can make your own historical figures But just once, and for a brief moment, I would like to be able to know what it is like to be one of the ultimate bad guys, like Torquemada for instance, or Hitler or one of the insane Roman Emperors.

I gotta agree with Fey here... I don't think I could handle being Jesus.

I've never really thought of which historical figure I would like to be. I've thought of figures I would like to meet, but not be. I definitely wouldn't choose a figure who made his living by fighting, as I would always have to be on the lookout for people trying to kill me. Heroes generally had a pretty rough time, too. Hmm... I guess I'll have to think some more about this one.
