Now that it is summer, it is time for everyone to get busy and start moving around. With everyone moving and on the go, we have very little time to relax. How do you relax? What do you do for fun? I am looking for new things to do this summer and i thought that a little imput from you guys would definately give me a head start. BTW i live in an area with plenty of water and beaches, but most of the things i am used to doing there are getting old. Anyone have any ideas?

Relax? Not sure I know the meaning of that word...

But you live in an area with plenty of water and beaches and it's getting old? Shall I smack you with a fish now, or shall I wait until later?

EXTREME BEACH VOLLEYBALL

Ok that was stupid. The beaches around here (anywhere in Washington) are littered with trash, dead seagulls and rocks. They're cold and windy, and the water is freezing. Occassionally, it will get hot, in which case the dead animal carcasses will heat up and smell like shit. But, at least we've got these.

DL: Lovin' it! Gonna have to give it a try next time we (my friends & I) get our hands on a bottle of tequila Do you suggest a certain brand, or will Cuervo suffice?

Chill eh? Given the way the weather has been in Michigan as of late, I can chill just by going outside I play a lot of roller hockey. A lot. So much that it's unhealthy for me - it will eventually hit the upper 90s here, and I don't drink nearly enough water when I play. I also play computer games (Diablo II, Brood War, etc), play guitar, socialize, build giant pyramids of mountain dew cans, as well as that whole photoshop hobby bit. Then there's the school & work aspect of my life.

Sometimes I sleep

To me Relaxing means:
Beach and pina colada juice and some latino music.
If u r used to the beaches at yr place, u can always try the neighborhood's beach..

Cuervo will suffice, Torro Gold is usually much better.
To me, it's like the difference between 5 O'Clock and Absolut (vodka is my thing, or at least it used to be).

I chill by sittng in blessed silence.
No Woman, no Girlies, no TV, no music - just me and my thoughts.

Yeah, cuervo will suffice - preferably the 1800, but the gold will do too.
Suaza is nice too.

Of course, if you add some fresh squeezed lime juice to the glass it'll be much much better. Ideally you'd use fresh lime juice for the whole thing, but...by the pitcher that's just not practicle

CFB - Why does that look like a turd with a clam shell on it? Frightening.

I don't chill. I don't relax. I keep it pent up until I explode and kill lots of people. Then I feel better, plead insanity, get out in 2 years and do it all over again. It's fun. Slow fun. But fun all the same.

IT's called a Geoduck. Evidentally, they are native to Puget Sound (Seattle area). They can grow to be like 2 meters long.

CFB: that is one scary looking creature!

Relaxing though. Hmmm. I actually could see where the beach life could get old. I bet there are parts of where you live you have never been to though. I actually don't get to relax too much. I am quite the "wired" individual. But there's nothing like taking a nice break on the back deck with a Guiness and a nice cigar.

I do not promote alcohol or smoking

No, Suho, they're very real, maybe not that big though, but I've heard of them reaching up to 2 meters.

Lets see, to "chill:" Listening to my favorite music, sitting around in the sun with a big huge fan blowing on me growing a large gut via lots of pop and junk food. Then spending the rest of the summer working that off. It's an endless cycle.

CFB- that sounds like a friend of mine at work. Only he does the gut growing in the winter, and works it off in the summer. He suggested that i build a cabin in the woods and try to live there for a while without much outside help. But i have to work and make money, so that wouldn't fly. Remids me of Thoreau's "Walden." Could be fun if i could brew my own beer =)

WHOA! those geoducks are like one big part of the male anatomy. What are they used for? That is to say why to people 'hunt' them? They look like a deformed clam or something. That has to be the strangest thing that i have ever seen. Do people eat those things?

We don't often rollerblade at the beach in Washington. Rollerblading has been known to enrage the Geoducks, and then no one is safe.

Yes, well, thankfully we don't have geoducks in these parts so I feel quite secure rollerblading down here. But you can be sure I will never rollerblade in the Puget Sound area for fear of being attacked by a perturbed phallic Panopea abrupta.

The area in which i live is full of seafood. It seems really odd that clams could get that big, and grow a phallus. it must be a pain in the neck to harvest those things. Do you have a picture of one that is two meters long? That would be cool.

I also thought of one thing that i have never tried at the beach. JETSKI! You would think that i would have done that already, but until now i didn't know where a place was where i could rent one. Has anyone ever done this before? How do you stop those things anyway?

Wolfen - heard of it, never had it. Tequila has never been one of my favorite liquors...

To chill - hmm... I usually like to curl up on the couch reading a good novel. But I've been trying to vary my activity lately. I like a good hike, or to go see a museum (I'm fond of natural history and art)...

Lately, my favorite thing to do when not busy with the rest of my life is sit down and catch up on some rest! Entirely too much going on...
