I am saving AI files as PDFs and notice that some some things are distorted. Well, first off I know one mistake I made: copy/paste numbers and text from PPoint. Not good. I have spent the last 2 hours trying to fix spaces between characters, etc. I fixed the problems but. . .

Question: Has anyone else ever had discrepencies between what was designed in AI or PhotoShop, etc and what is presented in Acrobat PDF? Text is gets moved out of place, lines appear bold. . . . . maybe its just my software?

sometimes it depends on whether or not you've embedded fonts into the PDF from AI - if you're not, make sure you are.

Also, PDFs don't deal well, in my experience, with transperant vectors from AI. For example, if you have a big splishy background image that is 20% transparent, it will get funkdified when you export it to a PDF.

Best bet is to actually get Acrobat, rather than export from AI, but if you can't do that, then you just have to safeguard yourself as best you can. You'll be dealing with some pretty big filesizes though, I'm sure you have noticed, in exporting from AI to PDF.

But that's my two cents.
