is there a possibility to find out which fonts are embedded in a pdf?

and if so, is there a way to extract them?

Acrobat reader will allow you to see which fonts are embeded.

Use File --> Document Properties --> Fonts.

I am not aware of any way to extract fonts from pdf files, my guess this would most likely freek font foundrys, adobe is a major player in the font biz so I would guess it would not be in there intrest to make easy to accomplish.

I did find a brief referance to a extracting font using Arco Reader version 3, see ruffly the middle of this site: http://cgm.cs.mcgill.ca/~luc/PSpdf.html

lots of good info there, there could more info about it there as I didn't read the whole site.
