Well, since my name is first in the game listing I guess I have to serve. I see Fraxyl has gone for another "Artists game" and I'm no artist, so I propose the exact opposite. Old Skool PhotoShop - Algorithic only - no additions to the original data, no drawing tools, no external images ... only those facilities offered by the Layers, Channels and Paths dialog, and the Image and Layers menus. Twist, bend, spindle, mutilate, colorize, chanop it to death, but don't add anything. Leave as may of your layers intact if possible - for future use.

First Serve .. a boring start .. but let's see

big jpg
psd

Mogg .. I tried to e-mail ... if you don't like the initial game rules - change them online ... but no time limits please .. I'm old, slow and very busy :{

edit - sigfile removed ....

PS - WEhoops .. I forgot the Filters menu ... naturally that can be used too

edit .. screwed up my urls - fixed now

I like the sound of this, trib. It sounds like it could prove to be a very interesting match.

nice direction. this pong stuff is great i am reminded once again how diverse a tool PS really is. BTW i dont think the start is boring at all, especially considering the parameters of the match.

Hmmm ... Thanks Gill. I guess it all stemmed from being brought up on Sci-Fi in the 60's - that and the fact that not only don't I have a single artistic bone in my body, I still find it hard to do anything subtle with my fist wrapped around a mouse. I really envy the guys who have the skill to justify buying a prper tablet etc. but it would be wasted on me .. so I still just go for the gizmos and tweak things to death instead ..

HEY Mogggggggggggggggggggggggg ... you alive ?

I think I'll give Mogg until the weeknd to let me know he/she's going to take part, and if there's no developments I'll throw it open to anyone who wants to take up the raquet ... does that sound fair ?

Weirdness. I don`t think I did anything that would be misinterpreted by an earlier version...Just blending modes, polar co-ords, bla, bla. May have been the Fill opacity on one layer. 5.5 doesn`t do that...
Gotta love the random factor. Back later.

151K version
and the zippah ( 1.9 Mb )

I only sent new layers. They by themselves make this image. The PSD was getting out of hand, and I`m on a dialup.
So, if you need layers from the previous, just drag the set into your psd. ( or link layers, and drag them..)

You probably figured that out in considerably less time than it took me to type it, didn`t you ?
ANYway, play with it til you smile.

I have business in Belgium and North Holland, so I wont be close to my Windows boxes for the next few days (Linux goes on the road with me). I'll try to get down to putting up a proper reply by mid next week. Until then, here's a cheat. One I did while I was waiting for Mogg to appear ...

OK ... I couldn't resist .. got home late and got to bed later, but I enjoyed this serve ...

No need to d/l the PSD this time bob. I only used the layers we had in the previous serves. It's 3Mb - I put a link to it in case anyone is interested, but the layers don't really represent the manipulations leading up to them .. as you already know.

Wow .. those are quite beautiful balls you got there Bob .. erm .. well .. you know what I mean .. as ever, your return serves have been an inspiration and a delight to play with. Each one in turn has taken me off in a new and unexpected direction.

Another fast return ... It's really worth looking at the bigger jpg (the thumbnail loses all the detail and the light) but the PSD has nothing at all that's new in it. Just the same layers (duplicated a lot and mutilated a lot more) and a background (modified) from serve #3.

Well .. now we've managed 4 service returns each, and from the hint in your previous return (about sustaining the momentum for 8 serves) it looks like you're about done with this game. Should we declare the match over and see if anyone comments? I'll leave the decision to you Bob.

Thanks for the game, it was really fun, and a challenging match.

This *no new information* has been an interesting challenge and a fun match. Well done.
I think after this return, I`ll call this done. I have a match to start with Michael, and you know how those military people are about schedules...
And I just love what you`ve done with my ball....no, wait, this is getting out of hand..Well, I just leave it at that.
On the comments, Yea it has been kinda quiet in here, hasn`t it ? Webshamen must be passing the peace pipe again...
