Yep, that's the way a van breaks when it's overloaded. It's supported at the back by the rear wheelset, and at the front by the tractor, so the only place the floor can flex downward is between the two.

When the whole thing starts to go, the sides and roof (which were partially supporting the structure) buckle, and suddenly the floor is the only thing holding at all. It gives out instantly. I bet he hit the brakes just before it happened. That would add a bit more stress.

Very cool picture!

hehe ... a lil more on what happened ... while he was trying to squeeze through that small bridge .. he drove up on a curb (notice the damaged rear wheel) .. that cocked the trailer sideways under the bridge causing it to hit the other side ... which i am sure shifted the load (which was some sort of weights that were in large sacks ... about 3,000 lb a sack accordin to the driver ... he kept pushin it till it freed its self from under the bridge ... as he was turning back straight on the road it gave way.

Ouch. Yeah, if he was running near capacity and the load shifted ...

Wonder if he's gonna get chewed out for breaking his truck? Not just breaking down, he done BROKE it

To be honest, I though Wolfen was making that joke, because that's how I read it the first couple times... It took me a little bit it to realize she was being literal about 'jumping beans,'

Ya know I used to carry my F717 everywhere with my just in case of an accident or what not. Figured I'd take a few pics and try and
sell them to either the news or newspaper. After thinking about it though I thought it was a little morbid. Kindof like me trying to
profit from someones loss. At least for you it's an "official" gig.
