The site isn't programmed yet, but I believe I've got the main interface finished. I'd be interested in hearing any comments, good or bad--I can take it. It's going to be my personal site, assuming I actually get around to finishing any copy about myself. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

graphic minutiae

No criticisms are too harsh, no compliments too nice. Let loose, I really want honest opinions on this one.

Thanks in advance.

Well, the grey buttons are kind of bland, and don't eem to fit the theme at all. Maybe you could do something with white boxes around them, the a line of black, and *then* the grey? Anything to make them stand out and match the theme. I like the minimal white lines, but they get kind of thin and grey on the quarter circles, maybe a bit of doubling up on those corners could help? Nice start, I could work with that.

Fantastic. Consider it done. I've also added a text box to the side, and I'm going to be coding a scroller for that, god willing, though I may have to edit the image, not sure yet as to my dhtml skills. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

Yup, took the words right out of my mouth Doc. The buttons don't seem to fit at all. A couple other suggestions to remedy that... you could give the buttons a grid background like the main area of the interface, or use the same font as the title...

The other thing I notice is that all the color is in the upper left. I really like the way those particular colors in that image interact. With that kind of design element (photo manip with heavy color changes) I always think it's very hit or miss, so maybe others won't like it as much. Anyway, to get to my point, I think you should pick some of those colors and propogate them in other portions of the page to create a more balanced feel that doesn't suck your eye straight up to the title.

These are excellent ideas, and I have incorporated them, I believe. Keep checking back, the interface is changing moment by moment, and as I get more ideas, I'm updating the image on the server. You were definately right that the buttons didn't fit whatsoever, so I removed them, more or less. The flow of the interface is now a bit less stark, and there's more color added. The grid-lines have been changed to include other areas, and I've done some texturing to the left bottom corner.

Should have something working within a few days.

I always seem to catch the layouts after they've been altered but what I see so far I like. My only thing would be to either get rid of those light ray things on the buttons or add it to the content section. It seems a litte out of place. Besides that it looks great so far ... cant wait to see the finished product.

I obviously missed a couple things since the 1st version, but overall I like it. I like the light ray things. The only thing I can say is I'd like to see a little more happening......the images on the top left are kind of washed out, and then you fade to a grid.....maybe when you add the content it will work better, but at the moment it seems kind bland.

Also, twitch -- I came across this site and thought it might be of some interest to you based on your ideas about a site from an earlier post: http://www.guru.com

And of course the rest of you may be interested in light of the name similarity with our beloved pet project.

Well, the activity will increase as soon as I finish coding the scroll bar on the right side of the text box and then, subsequently, fill it with text. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif"> I didn't want to overdo the graphic end of it too much, as it might get more active than even I can handle. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

But yeah, I've checked out guru.com before--I'm working with a client who belives that she's in competition with them, though she probably has no idea how large they are--and that she is el singularo person doing the same thing. But besides that, I've looked through their listiung of jobs, but it's not constrained enough to graphic design--which is, of course, the inevitable conclusion that made me want to do ngd in the first place.

Good god, I'm rambling. Thanks for the commentary.

And for the record, those 'light rays' are actually books that have been manipulated. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif"> Just a little tidbit of trivia for you all.
