rebel_mom,

OK, I'm not an artist but I'll give you my opinions;

>is it best to save as gif?

>how can you make them like the one in the fish thread (not sure what it is called)

Get PhotoShop - the fish was made with (i'm guessing) a combination of layering,
shading, channeling, and smoothing applied to paths. A reasonable alternative
is JASC pAINTsHOP - has pretty much the equivalent features.

>ok here it is truth please
It's OK, but needs to be more sublime. Keep creating.

>also is there a k/b limit? or size limit here?
Huh? What's that??

Folks like transparency around here.

It helps to know that the background is #320808 or #240000 for these table cells, so someone suggested #280404 as an average (I think #2B0404 is the real average, but it probably doesn't matter much.)

There was a post that linked to a page that had all the gory details of colors, etc. would someone care to link it?

ah ok so are these colours made to keep the colours of the forum in mind?

or just general colours?

as in the size issue I am in a bb board of a differant nature and many are on 56k modems so out of courtesy flash was eliminated or at least knocked down a few notch's and the sigs and avatars have to be a certain size and some have the pixel size right but the kb's are huge slowing the page down if more then one person uses the page with that size of graphic.......

Not good on the computer talk just don't want to bog people down....

Yes as far as the sig that was what I WAS on about in the other thread I made this with u-lead gif animator 5 which I am starting to think is like the fast food of graphics but it was an easy place to start since I can not seem to wrap my brain around PSP yet but I am going to start now and just do some buttons or something to start out with and go from there.

My main problem is knowing all the functions and learning the frames since in u_lead it is all on the bottom of the page broke down already for lazy ole me

Those are the colors of the Asylum.

I overheard you saying you had Photoshop. Proceed directly to the guru's network and get your Photoshop skills whipped up. This is the place to do it, too. Lot's of help and helpful comments from the lunatics, maniacs, mad scientists, etc.

This forum is a little more permissive than the others in the Asylum--you can use HTML here. I'd counsel you to stay away from animation unless it's essential to your sig.

i save in gif whenever i can. if you can use 256 colors or less in you picture than a gif will work. If you want it to be transparent or an animation, then you have to save as a gif. Maybe later png's will be cross browser. That'd be supa peachy(not using cool) because you can have partial transparency.

if you need more than 256 colors, like a photo then it would be better to use a jpeg. Jpeg's also loose quality when you save them depending on the amount of compression you use.

rebel_mom: 1) If you want your sgnature to be animated, it pretty much has to be a GIF (there are some exceptions). At least that is the easiest way to get started.

2) It is curteous to try to keep your file size down since there are people here who use low speed lines, but there are no set limits.

3) I would suggest that you put a longer pause in your GIF after you have completed drawing Rebel-mom.

I like the signature. I even like the background. Although you might want to try to blend the edges in to the bacground of the forum a little.

Imho, the hearts are a little much. I like the color they add to the letters, it helps to connect them to the background. Maybe if they weren't so distinct or maybe if there weren't so many...

Still, it's a nice peice of work.

I think that the working with the two different background colors forces you to be careful and mindful of how you desgn your sig. You need to make your graphics flow, it is hard at first, but once you get it, the power is striking.

I am assuming that is not a filter but on the off chance it is a real filter I would have to say I don't know........

I am a product of filter abuse but I am working hard to correct that by learning to do my own I am just not as fortunate as some to learn over night..I have mastered forgetting over night tho and tying strings on my fingers is not an option for tis type of stuff.

I am guessing graphics is like many other things easy for some and a chore to learn for others I am in the other category but it is a chore I am enjoying and in truth i have been just doing a whole lot of reading and getting ideas before i venture to learning

This time last year I couldn't turn a PC on now I fix them

heh - the easiest way to avoid filter abuse is not to use them
oh, and rebel-mom - personally, i think that the animation is kinda just a waste of space. not much is really achieved with it.
i also think that both sigs would look better straight on the brown background.

...all my talent took about 3 hours to learn - and dont it show!

--and as ive said before, once, i found a talent filter, but i lacked the minimum requirements to use it.--

Rebel_mom: I think that in most GIF animators you can give it two image and tell it to fade between them, and take however long to do it. it'll make that latest sig a bit smoother.

I suppose that is where the saying one mans junk is anothers treasure.......so to speak
I am assuming you feel what your trying to say or get across does not need the bells and whistles

It is not a necessity for me to learn but I want to to for personal satisfaction......wish computers had foot peddles cause I really do need the two hands to do some of the manoveuring for the graphics......

Do yo know how I could make them transparent I know how cool3d but not fussy on the program and i have saved so I thought as transparent but I gert a data file not an image.
