Okay, next stupid question: what's a template? I don't mean the definition. Is there an actual template page (without the use of CGI and/or SSI) that can be made with straight HTML? Or is it just a matter of different stylesheets being linked in?

I assume you are talking about Doc's post in that other thread.

To me, an HTML template, is the basic skeleton of a site layout. A lot of sites have similar themes running through them and those basic elements would be set up with HTML. You have the barebones of the page and then go into that to add content, images, etc.

There isn't anything special about the format of it. I usually just use inner comments

<!-- Insert introduction to page here -->

<-- Insert picture of drunk best friend kissing transvestite at bar -->

Like that.

Thanks, krets, that's what I thought. Right now I've got that setup going on with SSI and CSS, but I was wondering if there wasn't some template class or something like that.
