Nice drawing, Drac... that's a pretty forlorn looking toaster, I have to say . Although the idea is a bit odd (doesn't the toaster require electricity to toast food in the first place? I'm confused... ), that is exactly what I would imagine a toaster out on the street would look like. Or at least it is now.

I've always had a thing for toasters. I used to own four of em. They all had different names. I think I still have them in a box down in da shed actually. Have to pull them out one day and make a mini stop motion film with them. Hah! That would be fun.

Well, I was thinking of doing a blender, but I almost killed myself trying to crank out that pathetic toaster up there! If I had any real skill I would have come up with something a little more pleasing to the eye, but everything I do comes out looking either very stiff or very childish. I just don't think I have the artist's eye...

Anyway, here's an idea for somebody who's more talented than I: have your name (or a symbol that represents you) being blended up in a blender. It looks really great in my mind, but as soon as I try to do something with it it turns to crap. I've got the Midas touch, Schitzoboy style...

Then again, "household appliances" isn't just limited to "kitchen appliances." Oh my, I just had a very naughty thought (don't worry, I'm not going to act on it ).

I just couldn't help it with the toaster. I love toasters. Always have, always will.

It was either that or Mr Spam's arch nemesis The Can Opener.

Still I've never really been any good at the whole animated Gif thing, which meant the Toaster chasing a slice of bread idea went out the window. Oh yah, a toaster throw competition came to mind as well but again, me sucky animation...

I'll come to grips with IR one day.....

OK folks, here's my second (and last) try for this month (I don't have time to be messing around like this! ). It's pretty huge (69k), but I had this idea and I wanted to go with it. It looks pretty goofy, I think, but hopefully you can get a chuckle out of it.

My alltime favorite household appliance!
Actually made one of these with a quarter inch stainless steel
ring welded to the screw.
Ring was wrapped in waxed jute...works great.

heh...good ~other~ uses insider.
I mainly use mine for the non screw cap type though.
My design was modeled from this which does the same
job...I just simplified it and use different leverage though.

Heh WebShaman, it does the job! I know its not really an appliance, but its the first thing I ever tried to model in MAX and this will be its second use. However I've been known to use hammers to:
-open beer bottles
-crack eggs
-mix paint
-crush ice
-pull teeth
-scrape burnt toast
-split bagels
-hold ciggies
-chisel dried macaroni and cheese off dishes
-open soup cans
...the list goes on...

I have used a hammer to fix a computer. When all else fails in programming, get out the ballpeen hammer, works every time!

I would still hold that a hammer is a tool, not an appliance--but that doesn't mean I don't think the sig should be here. I think it's neat, actually. I wish I could do stuff that cool.

Yep, I saw that too. Which is why I'm not advocating keeping things like hammers and corkscrews out. I was really just kind of replying to KromaZ's definition of an appliance, which I think is kind of broad, but then I got mixed up with the hammer. Doesn't really have much to do with what should or should not be here.

The Panel of Judges (me) get to decide what or what not is within the definitions!

I was just trying to point out that KromaZ's definition of an appliance could very well include tools, but I thought there was a distinction between tools and appliances. It has nothing to do with what should be in this thread, and I would never presume to judge something like that!
