OK guys, if you're not posting a legitimate SIG for consideration in Suho's competition, then don't post here.

Think we can follow that?

Torture/Therapy.

....and......GO.

Perhaps it is worth mentioning a few guidelines:

1. Leave your own sig at the front door - only post your entries.

2. You are allowed as many entries as you like.

3. Remember that all other sig 'rules' still count - so keep the size (both dimensions and file size) reasonable and try and work your name in somewhere.

4. Only submit finished pieces - if you want some advice and feedback on a sig you are toying with then start a new thread.

5. Suho1004's word (or that of whoever is running the sig contest that month) is final.

6. Do not repost sigs that have already been submitted for this month (recycling old sigs is fun but probably won't be considered eligible for the current competition - but see point 5).

So its been an interesting (and 'interesting') sig competition (top marks for the subject their Suho1004) so lets try and keep focused on it for the last few days.

Hmm, in my opinion, that's not a bad hand; the only unnatural part is the shading below the thumb, which needs to indicate more that the thumb is closer to us than the rest of the hand.

Making the fingers different sizes would help also.

It's really not bad insider.

What it needs is more definition. As it is, there are a few areas that are kind of blurred out, and it leaves thigns too undefined to be realistic.

It's also got a slightly manakin feel to it...I'd try increasing the overall tonal values..get some rivher color into it (although it does almost have a corpse like feel as well...).
Slime is dead on about the shading - spend a little time simpl observing your own hand/arm in a similar setting and you'll start to get a better idea of what needs to be darker/lighter.

Of course, the *biggest* problem is that slitting the wrist that way is very ineffective as a suicide method....much better results by slitting *with* the vein.....

ewwwwwwww that hurts my right wrist when I think if using the tip of a knife through its fabric like body.... Ouch

Well actually I don't think you will see more from me this mounth sig-wise. Unless I feel inspired, actually I just finished watching The Crow my all-time favorite movie. And now im getting ready to watch Hellraiser II: Hellbound. Heh, you can say that I have the theme down pretty well this mounth .

About the sig now... I made a lil boo boo. what I did was I started with the hand much larger in about 400 x 400 pixels and then copied all of it into a 200 x 200 and then accidentally airbrushed in the same layer . So if I were to enter again with a revised version of that I would have to make a new slit. But actually the slit didn't take long, only a few minutes (ouch thinking about the slit again is hurting my wrist) but I like that slit, and making a better one would be hard I think.

nice work insider! i'm quite impressed.
my main advice is that usually the middle finger sticks out further than the pointer finger, and perhaps you shouldhave some mention of the pinkie.
but good work!

OK, apologies all around for apparently opening up a can of worms. In retrospect, perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to post which sigs I was considering and which I wasn't. The idea was to let people know where they stood and to give them a chance to make any changes. I did not intend for it to turn into another shouting fest. I have never seen a sig contest turn into such a mess, and it's really kind of embarassing for me.

I appreciate all of the entries that have been made this month--the imagination and skill shown far surpass anything I could have put out. It's going to be very difficult to try to pick a winner.

I will be away from home July 2-3, so the contest will end on the 30th and I will have the winners for you on the first of July. You've got a few more days yet to crank out those sigs!

Well Master Suho, I don't really think it is your fault actually. Letting us see your thinking process was (IMHO) a good thing...you must keep in mind, that this 'thread' (and I mean the whole bunch), actually has had very difficult problems remaining anything close to 'civil' the whole time...and I don't even have to mention VP...

So cheer up, and consider the fact that I think you have done a decent job...esp. when one considers it's the first time you've done this...

Suho1004: No need to apologise - you've done things right. There was no need to justify your decisions but it was helpful as people seemed to struggle to understand your theme (despite you being explicit about it). Good work and a good theme (I'm kicking myself for not having time to get an entry in).

I guess I missed your question the first time around, Grumble.

As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been around a lot lately. I was away for the weekend, and I'll be going away again tomorrow as well. I'll be back by Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Personally, I don't really have a problem with extending the competition until then, but I don't want to cut into next month's competition time. I don't know what the precedent for this is, so maybe someone with more experience could give me some advice.

It is now 14:46 (1 July) here. If I don't hear any objections by the time I go to bed tonight (another eight or nine hours), the contest will officially be open until whenever I get back from my trip. If the powers that be decide that the time limit should be enforced, the contest will end as soon as I read a post to that effect--at which point I will go into judging.

Anyway, the contest is still open at the moment, so if you've got any last minute ideas now is the time!

first i wanna thank you for waiting, but i have to disappoint you. it didnt work out for me to make the sig due to several reasons. i wanted to make a 3dish torture machine but then the plug-in which should export the model to the renderer didnt work (see 3d-forum) and i probably dont have any more time today. BIG sorry. and respect.
thank you.

Well, I must say I'm a tad disappointed, but I understand.

Anyway, now that that's all cleared up, I declare this contest officially over. Now comes the moment I have been dreading since all those lovely entries started pouring in... judging. I've obviously been thinking about it a lot, but I will be looking back over all the entries once more. I'll post the results as soon as they are finalized.

[Edit: Um, this is going to take a little longer than I thought. And dinner must be eaten as well. I'll try to get the results out when I can... hang tight.]
