I've played around a lot with gd.. in fact my word map uses it to draw the map.. I can easily set it to use images of pins instead of dots on the map... that required setting transparent colors with gd and then copying the pin image onto the map... I've done a couple of other things with gd too, like placing watermarks on photos when they're uploaded via my php uploader.

what's the other imaging tool? imageMagic or something? anyone here used it??
