Greetings. I'd like a little clarification on something if possible. As I understand it, every user has two cells: the old FAQ cell and the new "user info" cell. These are two separate entities, right?

I was just wondering if the new cells are eventually going to replace the old cells, and if we will be able to add subpages to them, etc, or if the two cells are going to remain separate and independent.

If the former, what are the precise plans, and if the latter, I would like to make the following suggestion...

I think it is kind of odd to have two "cells," especially when they both serve completely different purposes. Technically, the difference in purpose is not very confusing, but metaphorically speaking it is. The new "cells" strike me more as "patient files" rather than actual cells--they contain basic information about the user. The old cells, though, are where we live, and where we show off whatever we want to show off.

I just think it would make more sense to differentiate between the two. I don't really think the current setup should change, just the nomenclature. Rather than having: "Cell #2031, inhabited by an inmate who seems to answer to 'Suho1004'," I would suggest something like: "Patient File #2031 - Suho1004." In terms of the Asylum metaphor, the information that follows would make a lot more sense this way (date of arrival, diagnosis... it all fits perfectly). We could also add a field where inmates could post a link to their FAQ cells.

So, whaddya think? I'm going on the assumption that the two "cells" are going to remain separate, but I suppose if there are plans to merge them in the future this would all be moot...

I agree that would make more sense, Suho, and would help clarify the issue a bit.

Yes, the patient file metaphor does fit nicely. I was rather disappointed when I found that we didn't have the ability to add subpages to our new "cells," which is why I'm still sticking with my FAQ page. As TP said, we can post a link to our FAQ from our new "cell," but a name change would minimize confusion.

TP: It's not the link to the old cell that is the problem... that was an afterthought, really. I'm just thinking that maybe we could change "cell" to "patient file" to avoid the confusion of having two different "cells."

I could be wrong about this, but wouldn't this be a very simple change to make? All you would have to do is change the syntax from "Cell #????, inhabited by an inmate named '????'" to "Patient File #???? - ????" And then just change the "Edit Cell" button to "Edit File" or "Edit Patient File."

It seems to me that just a little effort would go a very long way...

well - I don't have a strong opinion on this, and have a rule of not making longish posts when I'm having terrible headaches, which is why I just mentioned the link possibility.
It indeed is a relativly small change to make, I believe.

I like the patient file idea, too. Cool tie in the the Inmate thing.

Take a break and some drugs, TP.

TP: I know how you feel... I had a pisser of a cold yesterday when I wrote those posts...

No pressure, just an idea. I know you have a lot of things to work on, so take your time.

Catch you on Q.
