i edit lots of images close up, and there's this thing in photoshop that moves the paintbrish to the edge if it goes within 3 or 4 pixels of the edge.. this gets annoying and makes me want to use paint instead of adobe.

anyone know how to turn this off?

to turn that off go to 'view' and uncheck 'snap'

if you hold down alt or shift or ctrl... or maybe a couple at the same time, you can override that bugger of a buggah.

Is there a way to turn it off though, i would love to know how too, and reading the book is just out of the question. heh.

well...i dunno why they called it snap...i can only assume that it's called that because stuff "snaps" to the edge or to the guides.
it's actually kinda nice when you want something centered to a certain spot or portion of your canvas.

Yep, an essential feature in many cases.

As Eyezaer said, holding down 'Control' while you use the tool will temporarily overide the feature, or you can simply turn it off/on as needed.
